What are you Thankful for....?
Edited on Wed Nov-21-07 05:47 PM by Flabbergasted
In honor on Thanksgiving

Here's mine....

My daughter and wife above all...
My house and all the luxury it provides...(indoor plumbing, heat, etc)
George Bush out of office in 13 months!!!
My parents and in-laws....
DU and the people here...
My abilities...
Challenges...
Laughter...

Well that's enough for now.

Have a great holiday.

2.  A short list.
My family and friends
( including the four legged members with tails)

A roof over my head

Food in the fridge and cupboards

Good Democratic sites like DU and the good people on them.

A warm smile, a warm greeting and sounds of nature.

The ocean with all its power and beauty.

Kindness

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

:D

3. I'm thankful that I have 30 relatives coming for dinner tomorrow
Edited on Wed Nov-21-07 06:09 PM by tularetom
I'm even more thankful that they're all gonna be gone by Saturday.

I'm thankful that my nephew's kid will be home from Eye-rack by christmas.

I'm thankful for my wife, kids, grandkids, horses, dogs and cats.

I'm thankful that I'm still in fairly good health.

I'm thankful that my neighbor and i have kissed and made up (even though she still is a right wing wacko).

I'm thankful for the good folks at DU.

9. I am thankful
I paid off my car and have a new bunk-bed that gives me a great view. Actually I usually feel the feeling of being thankful when I am almost in a dire situation, but make it out okay. Like when I almost slid into the ditch on an icy road, but didn't. That is when you feel really alive and alert.

18. My family - it's been an eventful year.
My mom is doing much better after her stroke.

My husband is healthy and he's a very, very good man. I'm lucky to be so loved.

I have a brand new great-nephew and he's beautiful.

Another of my nephews is returning home with his 3 children after the death of his wife.

My sister and her husband are healthy, she won't be needing heart surgery after all.

My sister in law finally divorced her abusive ex waste of space and can now move on.

My children are alive and healthy, and at least one of them is in school, lol.

My father in law's hip replacement went so well that it's given him a new lease on life.

My mother in law. . . . hmmmmmmm. Well. . . . . What can I say? Maybe the voices in her head have lovely singing voices?

19. I am thankful for a place to live and that my bills are paid
even though I'm unemployed.

I'm thankful that my Beloved and I are reconciling even though we have an uphill battle to save our relationship.

I'm thankful for my son even though he's 2000 miles away. I'm thankful I'll see him at Christmas.

I'm thankful for my dog even though he drives me crazy expecting long walks in 20-degree weather.

I'm thankful for DU which keeps me sane even when it drives me crazy. :grouphug:

Happy Thanksgiving, DU, from the Rocky Mountains! :hi:

22. Well, D'OH?!! Recovery, of course ... and ...
... "knowing" so many terrific human beings on DU and in my life. My gratitude is all about people - my favorite "things."

I received a calligraphy of an e.e.cummings poem over 35 years ago from a former nun who became a flight attendant ... a VERY special young woman who touched my life. The poem has always touched me with its truth. Here it is ...
it's

so damn sweet when Anybody—

24. I'm thankful for too many things to list here, but here are a few:
I woke up this morning,
I have all my faculties,
I have wonderful, loving and caring relatives and friends,
I have food to eat, clothes to wear,
A roof over my head,
Wonderful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren,
Healthy, wealthy and wise,
DU and all the great members,

I'm just so very thankful for so many things...

A happy and healthy Thanksgiving to all of you and yours.

Peace:thumbsup:

28. i'm not thankful for anything
#1. i didn't ask to be here. it just happened. now i have to deal with it.
#2. i'm an atheist. i don't "do" "thanks".

i AM appreciative of the luck that i have had so far. but that is what it was, luck. i have had a bit of bad luck in my life, usually due to my own decisions. (besides, good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people. it's called luck. it's pretty much coincidental.)

everything i have, i worked for. and obviously didn't do that great of a job. who's fault is that? mine.

i appreciate that fact that, so far, i'm not starving, but i pay the bills, i manage to buy a little food.

that decent job that i have right now? i spent 30 years getting here. i earned it.

i appreciate the fact that i'm not sick. what can i say? luck with the genes and luck with the avoidance of germs/viruses/contaminants/pollutants.

i appreciate the few friends i have, of varying levels of friendship. not enough close ones, but that is my fault.

i AM afraid of what is coming, "thanks" mostly to all those people who do "do" "thanks".

apparently that is MY cross to bear...

:-)

it is always funny when i am unable to control a sneeze amongst others. there is always a round of "bless you"s.

my response? silence.

i also don't "do" "blessings", either giving, or receiving. i'm not the fucking pope.

it always brings a smile to my face.
