Remember the "old woman" Obama "yelled" at?
But then a 64-year-old woman named Jane Svoboda stands up to challenge him. She wants to know why Obama doesn't talk more about terrorism — "the people who keep attacking us," as she puts it — and illegal immigrants. Obama discusses the need to regain global respect for the U.S. and argues that President George W. Bush erred by focusing on Iraq instead of Afghanistan. Svoboda interrupts to disagree, and that gets Obama going. "Iraq did not launch 9/11," he says, growing more and more animated. "That is part of the misinformation that has been coming out of this Administration."

The two get into a back-and-forth, which finally wakes up the crowd. By the time Obama moves on to immigration ("These are people who are trying to make a living. I understand they broke the law. But let me tell you something: if the minimum wage in Canada was $100 an hour ..."), he is, to steal a phrase, fired up. And the crowd, which cheers so loudly that he doesn't need to finish the sentence, is won over. The passionate response has answered their electability questions. As for the plus? On her way out of the event, even Svoboda offers a positive verdict: "He did a good job."

1. i wonder if this event is what is getting his poll numbers to go up
he really showed he gets it. and what he said was not something rehearsed. in fact he almost never gives rehearsed answers and it causes problems for him at times.

these are informed voters and the Iraq 9/11 connection is one of the most frustrating things to hear and people could understand Obama getting upset when people say that.

6. Just another rent-a-freak (freep) ?
I could swear the woman who yelled at Obama stands across the street from the vigil in Olney, Md. every Saturday,
screeching insults at the peace folks. Or maybe dementia is just common among wing nuts. Barack ROCKED in his response to her.

5. I used to think he was an acceptable alternative since Gore didn't jump in.
But he is really starting to impress me.

I'm beginning to get excited!

7. I have wondered over and over
why the Obama supporters have to post OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER about every single little tip top Obama does...And now I know. He is so far behind the front runner in the polls they are trying desperately trying to get people to think he is a viable candidate.

Why do you think they bash Hillary OVER AND OVER AND OVER. They think they can get people to believe the crap they pull out of the toilet. And you know what it doesn't do a damn bit of good. Hillary continues to soar. And every time some see's the swift boat attempts they just support Hillary that much more.

I believe those reports all over the airwaves about the Hillary bashers.

9. Why do you have to say Obama supporters are bashers over and over?
NO bashing (yet) on this board. Yet you bemoan Hillary bashers while you parrot the months-old talking point that Obama is not a viable candidated because of the polls.

Well, sorry, but several polls show Obama is quite viable. CBS and Zogby, for example recently.

But, back to Obama's response to the woman....he was spot on, and the audience responded positively.

Of course, on DU, there were Hillary supportes who bashed Obama for picking on an "old woman", totally ignoring what she had been saying and the crowd's reaction.

10. You are really a very sad individual.
Hillary isn't even mentioned in the OP, but you just can't help yourself, can you? Instead of whining about a few Obama supporters bashing Hillary, why don't you post positive stories about her instead of trolling in Obama threads to spread your venom?

Goodness sakes! There are a few Hillary supporters who have nothing better to do but bash Obama every chance they get.

The top tier candidates always get bashed. It happened in 2003/2004 around here with Dean, Kerry, Edwards and Clark. There will always be a few supporters of candidates bashing other candidates. If they want to waste their time bashing candidates, that's their problem.
