Sorry, but I've run out of sympathy for DUers who constantly
bitch and moan about Chris Matthews, a.k.a. Tweety.

Seriously.

This Tweety chump is not on our side. It's so obvious he's not even impartial.

So I don't understand why in the hell people keep watching him over and over and over again and just keep complaining via posts.

What do you want us to say to you?

"Yea, you're right, he an ass.....blah blah blah."

Brother.

STOP WATCHING if you don't like him. That's what I did last spring.

You people are just like the drivers who bitch and moan about rubberneckers on the freeway, but when there's a wreck, YOU SLOW DOWN AND LOOK!

You just have to watch don't you?

Show some self restraint and turn the goddam channel already.

2. I agree - the man is actually a reverse sewer. Instead of all of the
swill going down the drain, the idiot just opens his mouth and spews forth whatever twisted thoughts enter his head (with an eye to both the ratings and his perception of the current "winning team"). I have absolutely no expectations of him saying anything of even remote relevance.

To get Keith on these post event things, we have to get Tweety too. Keith makes up for it, IMHO.

6. Alas, ignoring him won't make him go away
There is a need to document the atrocities, as Media Matters does, and refute his bullshit. Leaving it unremarked and unchallenged will not stop his spew. Only by making the public aware of what a buffoon he is will he ever feel compelled to change.

I welcome all threads on what a tool Tweety is. And links, transcripts, video, etc. Feel free to hide those threads.

13. Oh he's not responsible for "atrocities" and he's not obligated
to change his views.

He has every right to say what he wants and to feel the way he wants on his program.

My point is what he stands for is NOT consistent, in my opinion, with what the majority of Democrats/Progessives/DUers stand for.

So fine, watch the program and take notes and do whatever you want.

But it is so irritating to see so many breathless posts from people acting so shocked about what they've heard.

It's like hearing a driver complain about the potholes on a certain street causing tire damage, yet they keep on-ah takin' that same road every single day knowing what's going to happen.

It's silly to me.

Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 11:45 PM by Jamastiene
Tweety just might lose his little show if less people tuned in. Of course, if half the people who watch him regularly and gripe about him would quit watching him, his ratings might go down. It's like a contribution to his salary and popularity to watch his show. It's as simple as that.

38. Maybe it's not just enjoyment that is at stake
Some see the MSM as powerful, and it needs to be countered, and you can't do it without watching. Hasn't a right-winger ever told you that you can't oppose Rush Limbaugh because you never listen to him? I guess not if everything you do is for enjoyment - though debating politics isn't generally for enjoyment, though some do.

22. I'll admit it, I'm hooked on Tweety. K.O., and Joe
I love them all, even when I hate Tweety and Joe. Its a love/hate relationship. I like to watch Tweety and see what idiotic thing will come out of his mouth next. He is so in love with the power plays, backroom deals, the b-llsh-ting of it all that it makes me laugh. Its entertainment. I especially love watching K.O.'s WTF expressions towards Tweety's remarks. Joe is fun to watch as well because I love how angry he gets at Shrub and then how frustrated he is that as a Rethug, this is his chosen leader. I love the way he has to come to terms with the fact that Shrub has done so much damage to the Republic Party over Iraq and overspending in general that Joe actually has to agree with liberals and Dems on things. K.O., what can I say, the man rules.

show is well produced. Lots of current events and interesting guests for the most part.

I just can't stand Tweety. I couldn't take him any more.

At least when you watch, you expect how he's going to behave and accept it!

You don't act all dramatic as though you're shocked he was an A-hole!

I really don't give a rat's ass if people watch Hardball....I just wish some people would quit acting so shocked and disgusted by what he says, when he's the same way during every damn show, Monday thru Friday!

Are they tuning in because they expect him to suddenly change?! It's dumb.

34. We take jabs wherever we can, because the son of a bitch had the
soapbox to hurt Gore in 2000. The more we can attack his credibility when he obviously is pandering to the people who sign-off on his paycheck, the better position we'll be in to neuter him the next time he tries to use his influence to turn an election.

And then explode with anger when he doesn't.

It's an unreasonable expectation to think Matthews will not continue being Matthews.

provide him good ratings?

I'm sure he's happy to hear that angry DUers watch him.

What does he care whether he's liked or not as long as people watch?

It's not like his paycheck is based on percentage of like versus dislike u know?

44. Well, there you are.
I don't watch him. I respond to threads started by DUers who, usually, are doing a drive-by with the remote control; or who tuned in because of the topic.

On the other hand, when Tweety's strong opposition to the Iraq War became apparent, I suggested that someone convince Crooks and Liars to post Tweety's comments because they supported our position. Guess what? They did. Amazingly, we have things that we can agree on, and things that we don't. It's his soapbox that comes in handy when it's an argument we support, and his soapbox we need to kick from under him, when his opinion appears bought, or too interjected in his show.
