Had T-giving dinner with a very high-up fellow from the NYT
Edited on Fri Nov-23-07 11:29 AM by PCIntern
Hoping for some insights...

Extreme Extended family...guy said absolutely nothing about anything at all whatsoever, despite my proddings, both serious and humorous. Practiced responses, he's all the way at the tippy-top and I mean he said NOTHING.

You have to give these guys credit...I guess.

1. That's what they do with their "investigative reporting": Nothing.
If our crack media had done the LEAST possible reporting on Shrub's record in a Weak-Governor-system in 2000, he wouldn't be squatting in the WH tody. All they had to do was crib from Molly IVINS's books and columns and pretend they did some reporting.

2. You're right...
they haven't done shit since Wtergate as far as I'm concerned and even then, the Times had relegated it to 3rd tier status until the Post started getting somewhere.

8. Mi esposo works for a large newsgroup and I can tell you firsthand that
there are subjects they consider forbidden.

After 9-11 it became worse.....A younger reporter from the Boston Globe told me he tried for months to get Globe to focus on BCCI and Kerry's work and they shut him down EVERY TIME until he gave up, and they STILL wouldn't refer to it during the presidential race except as a sentence in a bio story.

I suggested he check if Globe owners lost alot of money when BCCI was shut down.

5. that's the point...
these guys are on complete shutdown. As Harry Stack Sullivan stated, you often learn more from what someone doesn't say than what they do say.

this guy used to be somewhat talkative...now, nothing.

11. The NYT whimps out repeatedly - like republicon propaganda organ
They have Assumed the Position -- and lost their honor.

6. Credit for what?
Why should people be endlessly pestered about professional information @ a private function?
Would you like to be grilled about everything you know about your job in front of other people, for free?

9. It was a statement of facetiousness...
the context should have been self-explanatory to you. And I don't do smilies unless you like this:

7. Maybe talking about politics would ruin his/her appetite.
Edited on Fri Nov-23-07 02:25 PM by PBass
Also, it's doubtful that they don't talk politics... maybe they just don't talk politics with you.

Also, everybody in America has pretty much made up their mind. 70 percent of Americans realize that Bush is a disaster, and 30 percent are willing to support Bush no matter what, because Bush talks to Jesus every day, or because he is killing a lot of "them A-Rabs" (or both)

10. He used to...
that's the point. Again.

As I said, he was 'shut down'. Completely.
