Just saw this at lunch. Portis was on to say that this is what it is all about not some football game-make the most of it while you can.

5. They'd toss you out of a B-17 over Europe to increase chances of survival if you got hit there.

7. There has been several of these incidents.

It reminds me of something that happened to Henry Rollins.

"In any case, when they got home, Cole and Rollins had the misfortune of walking in on a robbery in progress. Guns were pressed to their heads and the two of them were told to lay flat with their faces against the floor. While Rollins followed orders, his buddy got into an altercation with one of the robbers and wound up with two bullets in his head. "For $40 they killed Joe and basically ruined my life," says Rollins, who keeps a jar of Cole's blood and the dirt on which it spilled inside a closet. "I'm a completely different person now than I was then. Try cleaning your best friend's brains off the sidewalk so his mother won't see them. It would have an effect on you, too."

This happened because he lived in a shitty neighborhood and everyone thought he was rich.

28. A history of being around criminal activity
And who knows what this robbery may have entailed. Sean has been known to be around trouble for awhile. And yes, I'm not shocked at this story.

11. Sean had turned his life around
after the birth of his daughter. He was also the Redskins best DB. Dallas would not have beaten the Skins if Sean had been healthy and played in that game.

31. Come on now...
"He was also the Redskins best DB. Dallas would not have beaten the Skins if Sean had been healthy and played in that game."

The game wouldn't have been as close as it was had terry glen been healthy and played in that game.

The cowboys may not have lost to the pats had glen and henry been healthy and played.

The story said "possible robbery."

No matter how you slice it, it's still sad.

21. It doesn't matter if he has a history or not.
The guy is lying in a hospital room somewhere dying. His history may or may not be the reason for this shooting, but right now I'm guessing that's the least of his worries and the worries of his family. Hopefully he pulls through.

26. You're right, and I never condoned what happened
I simply stated that this guy has been in a lot of trouble before. Who knows what this robbery entailed. We'll find out.

And yes, I'm still not surprised this kind of thing happened to Taylor. Just like if it had happened to any other professional athlete with a history, like a Pac Man Jones, for instance.

29. Ok.
I just think it's in poor taste to make that the discussion instead of focusing on the fact he might be losing his life.

30. People who know him well (and I assume you are not among them) ...
ARE surprised, Hell, stunned by this. All have stated that since the birth of his daughter, Sean has turned his life around, acting as a model citizen, teammate, and consumate professional. I don't know him well at all, but I have met him and been in his company on a couple of occasions, and he has always been a perfect gentleman.

33. You are totally right. A perfect gentleman
I'm sure he can be a good guy, but he's got history, and you can't deny it (legal problems, issues with the team, spitting in opposing players faces). Like I said, let's see how this all plays out.

32. Taylor is awake now and responding.
Source: Taylor wakes up from coma
ALEX MARVEZ
FOXSports.com, Updated 19 minutes ago

Taylor recently awoke in a Miami hospital and gripped a doctor's hand when asked, a source said. Medical officials were uncertain whether Taylor would initially survive after suffering major blood loss when shot early this morning in his South Florida home.

"Sean was not responding well to blood transfusions and things were going in the wrong direction when totally out of the blue he woke up," the source said. "Anything can happen at any time, but the phrase now being throw around is cautious optimism. Before the guy was slowly passing away. Now, he's slowly getting stronger."

News of Taylor's revival sent cheers among Taylor's friends and family members gathered at Jackson Memorial Hospital, the source said.
