Norman Solomon: The media are siding with corporations in the "class warfare" debate.
from TomPaine.com:

Media and Class Warfare
Norman Solomon, TomPaine.Com
November 26, 2007

Below is an original submission from National AFL-CIO Organizing Director Stewart Acuff in light of nationwide protests taking place targeting the National Labor Relations Board for your consideration for publication. Please call with any questions, by contacting Bernard Pollack at 202-321-2025. In solidarity, Bernie, Nat. AFL-CIO.

A few decades ago, upwards of one-third of the American workforce was unionized. Now the figure is down around 10 percent. And news media are central to the downward spiral.

As unions wither, the journalistic establishment has a rationale for giving them less ink and air time. As the media coverage diminishes, fewer Americans find much reason to believe that unions are relevant to their working lives.

But the media problem for labor goes far beyond the fading of unions from newsprint, television and radio. Media outlets aren't just giving short shrift to organized labor. The avoidance extends to unorganized labor, too.

So often, when issues of workplaces and livelihoods appear in the news, they're framed in terms of employer plights. The frequent emphasis is on the prospects and perils of companies that must compete.

Well, sure, firms need to compete. And working people need to feed and clothe and house themselves and their families. And workers hope to provide adequate medical care. ......(more)

2. No surprise there...
The owners of the corporate media are in the class that's winning. The class that declared the war in the first place.

3. Listen up candidates....
Voters will choose any candidate who will go after Big Corporations with a vengeance. People know who really needs to be cut down to size and reigned in, and they cannot wait for a politician to do just that, instead of rolling over.

5. Boy there's a shocker huh?
Of course they need to remember that consumers can only consume if they have jobs and money to spend. Even such an asshole as Henry ford recognized this and made sure his employees were paid enough to afford his products. This lesson appears to have been lost on many present day bottom feeder employers like wally world.

7. If the MSM is chatting up a candidate, you can bet
they are expecting to get their money's worth. We all know they want a Hillary-Rudy dustup. Good for ratings. Lotsa money for advertising. Plus there's the bonus of mountains of salacious gossip to mine for years to come between the two of them.

9. And that is why...
...if dems are to ever win again, we need to cozy up to corporations. Corps are your friend. Just because they really want you to be a slave is no reason to be mad at them.

11. Who?
Why, it's the corporations that feed the corporate media. And since corporations are gonna rule - the way things are going - we'd better get with the program or be left behind. The dems need to out corrupt the pukes.

Call it the democorps, if you will. We don't need purity, we need dirty!

14. And that is why Edwards gets little positive coverage from MSM... he will bust them up.
The MSM corporate agenda is in full swing..... and will remain so until the next President is elected.

Edwards has said he would put the DOJ on the case of rolling back media consolidations, and open up the media outlets to more people.

THis is in direct conflict with the corporate agenda of the MSM.
