According to Glen Beck, just now, it is congress fault. They are reprehensible and are out of line for letting this happen. They went away on vacation and did not fix the problem.

Who in the hell was the people who instigated this. I did not know that congress was responsible for everything that happens in DC. I thought bush appointed people to run these organizations. And don't the people he appointed make the decisions. SO WHY THE HELL IS HE BLAMING CONGRESS.He says people are complaining and congress should get busy and change their policy...The S.O.B. and Erica HIll is egging him on. I'd like to slap both of their faces. But it wouldn't do any good they would be right back out there telling their filthy lies in ten minutes again.

4. DOD payroll regs. It's how they do it. Or how they have done it in the past.
They'll have to start doling that bonus out, a year at a time, rather than 'lump sum' in future to avoid this, and make it clear (sign on the dotted line) that if you don't do the time, you don't get all the dough.

Betcha they change the regs, quietly, in the future.

Don't go shooting the messenger...

5. This problem is several YEARS old.
The military is capitulating only because they couldn't keep it out of the public eye this time. But Beck IS right to blame Congress--for not holding Bush responsible for not accounting for how he's spending the money they keep handing him for Iraq.

How it works

You don't finish the tour your bonus covers, you don't get the remainder and you must pay back any that was advanced above actual enlistment time served.

For example:

10k for 10 years...or 1k a year..except

You get 5k up front and then 500 a year spread out over 10 years.

So the first year you get 5500

the second year amounts to 6k total..so on and so forth

Say you served 4 years and was injured so badly you had to get out

5000 plus 500 X 4 = 7000

but 4 X 1000 only equals 4k...but you were paid 7k...so now the DOD says you owe them 3K back because you were paid for 7 years but only served 4 years.

That said..Congress does - indeed - have that power

COMMITTEE JURISDICTION

Aeronautical and space activities peculiar to or primarily associated with the development of weapons systems or military operations; the common defense; the Department of Defense, the Department of the Army, the Department of the Navy, and the Department of the Air Force, generally; maintenance and operation of the Panama Canal, including administration, sanitation, and government of the Canal Zone; military research and development; national security aspects of nuclear energy; naval petroleum reserves, except those in Alaska; pay, promotion, retirement, and other benefits and privileges of members of the Armed Forces, including overseas education of civilian and military dependents; selective service system; and strategic and critical materials necessary for the common defense.

Now, it's not their fault unless they elect to do nothing about it...because they can do something about it...it's within their Congressional powers.

Course, I have a lot of problems with anyone like Beck blaming anyone for any problems the troops are having... anyone that supports Bush and his policies - that bemoans the treatment of the troops in a war based on lies - is worthy of contempt...if government actually supported the troops, they wouldn't be in Iraq in the first place.

So Beck - and others - can go fuck himself/themselves.
