Documents: Mom describes killing girl, 2
Documents: Mom describes killing girl, 2
By JUAN A. LOZANO, Associated Press Writer

GALVESTON, Texas - A woman believed to be the mother of a 2-year-old whose body was found in Galveston Bay told police she and the girl's stepfather beat and tortured the child to death, court documents show. The details, in a statement Kimberly Dawn Trenor gave to police, paint a chilling picture of the last days of the girl investigators called "Baby Grace" as they worked for weeks to learn her identity.

Investigators are awaiting DNA test results but said Monday they are "fairly confident" that the body a fisherman found in a plastic box Oct. 29 is that of Riley Ann Sawyers. Trenor, 19, and her husband, Royce Clyde Zeigler II, were in custody on charges of hurting the girl... Trenor said in her police statement, first reported by Houston television station KTRK, that she and Zeigler, 24, killed her July 24.

The girl was beaten with leather belts, had her head held underwater in a bathtub and then was thrown across a room, her head slamming into a tile floor, Trenor said in the document. She said they kept the body in a storage shed for one to two months before they put it in a plastic bin and dumped it into Galveston Bay...

Trenor and Zeigler met a couple of years ago playing an online game, World of Warcraft, and she moved with her daughter from suburban Cleveland to Spring in June...

21. I vote for "the boot"...
Make a radial incision on the upper thigh. Attach 6-8 clamps at the top of the incision and gradually "peel" the leg.

Repeat with the upper extremities.

Reaching the face, get creative.

I'm actually pacifist by nature, but anybody who hurts a child like this deserves the most absolutely horrific torture imaginable.

so it would be a lifetime of nearly solitary confinement. (In case you haven't heard, inmates who have harmed children are utterly despised by the rest of the prisoners.)

19. To a 2 year old child.... I would kill them myself.
As the parent of a 3 year old, I simply cannot imagine what kind of sociopathic inhuman monsters would do such a thing. When I look at my own kid and even TRY to imagine someone doing that to him, I'm overcome by rage. I would kill anybody who even tried something like that with my kid.

Cases like this are why we have a justice system. Without one, these two pathetic excuses for "parents" would already be burning over the town bonfire...and I'd be bringing the marshmallows. :grr:

20. They need to be put away for life
or until she's far beyond fertility and he has ED that Viagra won't touch. Neither of them should ever be allowed around a child again.

Growing up and sobering up and realizing what they have done will be their punishment, and that punishment should last as long as possible.

34. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with drugs, unbelievable as that may sound
There is a strong animal tendency for the male partners of fertile females to remove from the picture the genetic offspring of previous partners. What's always amazing to me are the women who allow it, even participate in it. Of course the Neanderthals who engage in this behavior don't usually kill, they usually ostracize and/or abuse, resulting in the removal of the child/children.

Thank God most men are not like this. Most become excellent, loving parents to the children of their partners but the exceptions to that rule can produce horrific cases like this.

Never, ever to see the light of day again.

Preferably surrounded by pictures of the child they brutalized and murdered.

This is incomprehensible.

27. This is what we were afraid of up here in Ohio
We heard that Riley's father was having a DNA sample from her sent to Texas to see if the body of "Baby Grace" was actually Riley. It sounded horribly fishy, the story that a "social worker from Ohio" took her away, when in Ohio no such thing had happened. Her birth father had no idea what had happened to her in Texas.

Oh God, the pictures of that dear child...how could anyone hurt that sweet little thing...

It's not for me to give them their punishment. I hope it comes to them on its own, and that it gives them even a hint of a feeling of what it must have been like to be that poor girl.

Some things are just beyond any comprehension.

33. I'm also wondering
why didn't this "mother", who was apparently too young and immature to raise a child, do the right thing and give up custody to someone who would take good care of her? I just can't fathom the situation. She must have known, from the first time she abused the girl, that beating the child wasn't doing anyone any good. I just don't understand people like these.

44. Yes, me too...
I have Lupus and so a pregnancy for me would be dangerous as well as for the baby. Adopting is not likely because I am ill, so I am not a good candidate (some have told me). But I want a little one so very much and that someone would hurt that child instead of giving her to a good home just breaks my heart. What I would not give to have taken her or any child in. Very sad:(

Edited on Mon Nov-26-07 09:53 PM by Iris
It was like sociologists, psychologists, doctors, pediatricians all of a sudden realized that this was a problem. When I see stories like this, I have to wonder if any progress was made in the area of child abuse prevention.

40. I know, there are some messed up people in this world
I was around the great-grand kids of my family this weekend. There were only 4 of them there, between 2-4 years old. I can't imagine someone being cruel to a child that age...let alone their own child. God, it's just sick and sad.

I try not to judge, but there's a special place in hell for people like this.

43. I try to be a kind person
Thanks.

But I remember that it's not my place to judge, but I think that God will forgive in instances such as these. (Not to be all religious on you or anything).

It reminds me of that case from Hutchins, Texas where these parents locked this little girl away in a closet. She wasn't fed, she had to urinate and defecate in the closet. Yet, she had siblings that were treated well. And the worst part was that the mother had given up this child when she was an infant. This couple had taken her in and wanted to adopt her and the mother showed back up and took the girl back. Then proceeded to treat her abominably. After the authorities found out about that girl in the closet, the original foster parents took her back and did finally adopt her. She's mentally and physically stunted because of malnutrition. And this whole time, there was a couple that wanted her, yet her selfish and cruel mother wouldn't release her to them.
