the subject of investigation at Hustler. He didn't issue a flat denial neither has Benjamin(escort). Lott jumped out ahead with his sudden resignation, possibly to occupy the press and side track this info. Or he says he is quitting to get this story to move off the front pages quicker, then people stop thinking about him sooner. Helps the repugs to move beyond him faster, unlike Craig who is still being talked about.

If he offers confidentiality, then he can't say if he had contact with Captain Hairpiece, right? So can any denial be believed, or is it part of that discretion?

Put another way:
"I will never tell anyone if I had sex with one of my clients." = A
"I never had sex with Trent Lott." = B

If A is true, then B cannot be verified as true. The guy is a pretty fair wordsmith.

FWIW, my suspicion is that Lott is in Abramoff's sights, but I wanted to point out the contradiciton in the denial.

That he frequents DC leather bars. No way of knowing if they were accurate but friends from DC said so, and it wasn't hard to believe.
