6. Nope, that's Jim Jeffords. He retired in 2006 due to his wife's health problems and his own.
When the Senate was split 50-50, Jeffords was the Republican who jumped ship to be an independent and caucus with the Dems in May 2001.

It was a huge deal at the time...

5. These are the people running our fucking country.
Jesus Christ Almighty, no wonder things are so fucked up.

No matter that they are retired or disgraced. It seems there are always more scum like this, ready to float to the surface and take their places.

7. Jim Jeffords is the opposite of scum- despite his poor taste in singing
companions. For thirty years he fought the good fight- and he was republican for the lion's share of that time. He was an avid environmentalist, a tireless advocate for education and particularly for special ed, he voted against the Iraq war, and he followed his conscience and left his party, handing control over to the dems, despite a family history of republican activism going back to the civil war.

I take it you're just ignorant about Jeffords.

9. Jeffords was the Judas Iscariot of the group
That group, was of course, worthy of betrayal.

10. What crap calling Jeffords "Judas"
Jeffords was truer to himself throughout his long career in gov't than 95% of politicians. He was someone who fought for what he believed in- and much of what he believed in were things most DUers also believe in. I voted for Jeffords. I don't regret it. Most liberals/progressives here did the same.

12. His 'thing' was education--he really cared about it. And Bush had to be shitty, and
not invite him to a WH signing ceremony.

That was the straw that broke the camel's back.

13. Yes, that was the straw that broke the camel's back
though of course not inviting him to the ceremony honoring a VT teacher as teacher of the year, had nothing to do with why he quit the repuke party: it was the breaking of the promise by the admin to provide funds for the unfunded mandate imposed by special ed. But Jeffords was much more than just about education. He was dedicated to rights for the disabled, the environment and more. And as I pointed out, he voted against the IWR.

21. Get a life.
You think you're the wisest mf'er on the planet and it shows in your posts. Someone who thinks they know it all have stopped learning a long time ago. Take your condescension and shove it. If I condemn people in a picture with three total assholes and a half-decent individual, just make the bold assumption the half-decent one is not included in my remarks.

Singing their classic "Baby on Board." Wow, wish they hadn't broken up. They still say that Craig's boyfriend was responsible for the breakup (Stall number 9, Stall number 9, Stall number 9, Stall number 9).
