What’s wrong with the US healthcare system?
What’s wrong with the US healthcare system?
By Will Patching 11/26/07

Michael Moore’s work invariably gets slated by rabid right wingers but that does not mean he is wrong. The facts outlined in his film, ‘Sicko’, should make all Americans cringe and hang their heads in shame: to so loudly proclaim righteous Christian credentials, yet ration the availability of medical treatment for the least fortunate in society is barbaric and uncharitable.

In Britain, the National Health Service is less than perfect. But, as a secular nation inclusive of all, the Brits manage to find the funds to treat those less fortunate - the old, the poor, the long term chronically sick… and even illegal immigrants.

In America, people can be bankrupted by the crippling costs of health care. Why? Because, as Moore points out, the whole system is a business solely interested in benefiting corporations and greedy individuals - at the expense of the nation.

For those who say that a social based system - like that of the British - would mean a dearth of innovation, longer waiting times for all, poorer levels of treatment, more disease among Americans etc, it is worth noting the following facts:

3. Health Care for All
Edited on Tue Nov-27-07 08:36 AM by mac2
it is time to have a health care for all system not just children Democrats. It would be cheaper in the end.

Our automobile companies have left for Canada because of the national health care. In Detroit whole streets are full of bankrupt homes for sale. Did you know that from the media?

Canadian workers are well educated and cost less. We had a surplus with Canada pre-globalist-Republican rule. They are growing stronger since Bush came to power. Now it is a fact that they are not only taking our jobs but have bought up much of our resources, etc. Canada is stronger than us (thanks to Anglophile Bush).

It's not just the cost. Many medical people are burning out from fighting the system as it is today. Our education system is not training enough of them either. When and if they do train their jobs are "off shored". It is just plain greed and bad government policy.

It is my opinion that many of our leaders hate the workers and democracy. They leave public office with their bag of plunder (book deals which are money laundering payoffs for votes). Hastert leaves with a fat pocket for his. The Republican leaders are leaving so they can escape corruption charges.

Congress looks the other way. They are part of the problem.

I was shocked to find out that Obama has been paid millions for books before he even becomes President. He's making money just running for public office. When he gave that "fear terrorist speech" on CSPAN I knew he had sold out to the globalists (Neo Cons).

4. Around 30 years ago, it stopped being about health care and was....
Transformed into an industry strictly for profit.
