Again the dreaded AMT

Alternative minimum tax sux, I just did a tax calculator and found that we got nailed again! Five years in a row.

The prior four years I expected, good income, lots of deductions, I can understand why, but it still hurt.

My husband works all over the country, fully one third of our income is for lodging, and work related expenses. This year he was off of work for 5 months (health), no storm restoration hurricane season, income cut in half. The dependents are grown, and just when you think you can get ahead a bit...you get nailed with extra tax.

No matter how they word it AMT is an extra tax, it is not a tax to keep the rich in line, it is a tax to keep the classes farther and farther apart.
I believe it is just to keep us stuck in the lower middle class forever.

I have an accounting degree, and I'll admit taxes are not my specialty
but AMT just plain sux.
