How many more times can Cheney's heart conceivably be shocked..
into beating again? By all rights the man should have been dead long ago, except he's got a squad of heart specialists who follow him around 24/7.

What happens when he leaves office, do the taxpayers continue to pay for these extraordinary measures?

1. Hard to tell, as long as continues to pump oil should be ok, may
malfunction once in a while.

2. We will be stuck with his care forever. Hopefully, it will be a short time,
first in prison here and then in the Hague.

Once he is executed, the care should stop.

But how will the doctors know his "heart" has actually stopped beating?

5. Taxpayers won't have to pay
Chaney's dark lord, Satan, put him here.

His fate will be up to the devil.

But he's done such a good for the dark side, I'd imagine they'll keep him around for years to come.

:sarcasm:

7. With all the Sean Taylor news, Cheney could be having a sex-change operation and no one would care.

8. He does have "end stage" Heart Disease .... how long????
By end stage I mean it will be with him for the rest of his life and will
no doubt lead to his death .... unless he gets hit by a truck or something.

But having to shock a heart back into a normal rhythm that already has a
pacemaker / defibrillator is not a good sign. I would guess if his heart was not
shocked yesterday than his heart beat would have continued to go out of whack
and would have caused any number of physiological problems .... stroke, loss
of oxygen to the brain, circulatory problems etc ....

9. Patience...
Cheney's long histories of cardiovascular disease and periodic need for urgent health care have raised the question of whether he is medically fit to serve as Vice President.

Formerly a heavy smoker, Cheney sustained the first of four heart attacks in 1978, at age 37. Subsequent attacks in 1984, 1988, and 2000 have resulted in moderate contractile dysfunction of his left ventricle. He underwent four-vessel coronary artery bypass grafting in 1988, coronary artery stenting in November 2000, and urgent coronary balloon angioplasty in March 2001.

In 2001, a Holter monitor disclosed brief episodes of (asymptomatic) ectopy. An electrophysiologic study was performed, at which Cheney was found to be inducible. An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) was therefore implanted in his left upper anterior chest.<103> As of 2004, it has never discharged.

On September 24, 2005, Cheney had an endo-vascular procedure to repair popliteal artery aneurysms bilaterally, a catheter treatment technique used in the artery behind each knee. The condition was discovered at a regular physical in July, and, while not life-threatening itself, is likely an indicator that Cheney's atherosclerotic disease is progressing despite aggressive treatment.<104>

13. Atherosclerosis isn't so good for the brain, either. Small strokes, personality changes...
...deterioration of mental acuity.

Just sayin'

11. on one hand I would like to see him live to have justice served on him
but him being the evil dick that he is that I think on the other hand it would be better all around if he just went on. where ever people like him go and I know there won't be no 72 virgins waiting on him when he gets there either, that one I would bet the farm on.

16. He's not going to get 72 virgins...
he's got 72 Virginian's waiting for him...

Starting with Washington, Madison, Jefferson, Monroe, Patrick Henry, and 67 others and I bet they want more than just a word with him.

Wish I could claim credit for that one but heard that one somewhere a year or two ago...;p

12. Until nothing shocks him any more, I guess.
I only want Cheney to have the same medical care as the majority of Americans. I figure that's compassionate of me.

19. Extensive studies at Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib are inconclusive....
Cheney is secretly trying to order more tests to determine the answer.
