Which is more important? Bill Clinton's impeachment or Passage of NAFTA and Welfare Reform?
These are not equal and opposite issues.

However, every biographical and historical reference regarding Bill Clinton highlights his impeachment for lying about an extra-marital affair, and likewise provides less stress on passage of NAFTA and Welfare Reform under his Administration.

IMHO Bill Clinton did many good things, but we are living with two which have damaged this country tremendously under his leadership.

I ask the question to highlight the differences between perception and substance.

1. I don't follow.
Over my head I guess.

5. These are not opposites, but they compete for emphasis in evaluating Bill Clinton's legacy...
As I said, the OP was designed to highlight the difference between appearances and substance.

(My personal opinion is that the impeachment of Clinton for what amounted to a personal failing(extramarital affair) should not receive more emphasis than the results we have experienced from passage of NAFTA and Welfare Reform on his watch.

2. In the public eye
Let's see, we have two choices: A) arcane political issues; or B) a blow-job resulting in a semen-stained dress. Which do you think the public will remember more?

3. Free trade (NAFTA) has done much damage to the middle class (outsourcing jobs)
as well as national security (who is to say those countries taking over manufacturing won't someday be an enemy).

I recently bought my kids Howard Zinn's children's edition of A People History of the US. He asks the question why Clinton focus on re-building infastructure with the large surplus that was amassed during his terms. Food for thought.

4. Unfortunately, NAFTA and Welfare reform
were seen as positives (or presented as positives) by both parties and thus, no real discussion (or debate) as to their effects once enacted.
