Got called by a pollster the other day
and the guy asked me who I was supporting for President out of the Democratic candidates. I answered, "Right at this moment I am leaning toward Chris Dodd." Then the guy asked me who was my second choice. I answered, "Maybe Kucinich, maybe Richardson." This didn't seem to please the guy He asked me, "Out the following three candidates, who will you support in the Iowa Caucuses? Obama, Edwards, or Clinton?" I said, "None of them." The guy said, "What if they were the only three candidates?" I said "Well, there's always the write in vote".
I don't think that made him overly happy either because then he asked me again about the "big three". I finally told him that I can support any damn body I want to because I have a mind of my own and I was sticking with Dodd for now. Then he said, "Ok ok, calm down. We are just trying to find out who people are supporting." I said, "Well, I just told you who I'm supporting. Who hired you?" He refused to answer me and said , "Thank you sir and have a great day."
In reality, out of the "big three", I am leaning toward Edwards, but this guy really didn't need to know that. And on my caller ID, the number was some area code outside of here and did not say a company or individual name. Maybe that's why I was somewhat uncooperative. They should at least be up front about who they are and who they represent, imo.

1. This incident shows why Dodd's polls are so low,
along with Richardson and Kucinich, Gravel and Biden. The MSM want to make it appear that there are only three candidates. My mother wasn't even aware that anyone other than Clinton was running until I set her straight.

2. You prove my theory as to why these "polls" are not necessarily accurate! LOL!

5. And how many times is it
Just Clinton and Obama? Because that's all you hear about in the Media.

3. I really liked how you handled that!!
It INFURIATES me, though, that they consistently try to corral the voter into "supporting" one of The Three. No WONDER Dodd, Biden, Kucinich, Richardson aren't showing up on the polls at all - they're not INCLUDED. That is just so wrong.

4. He was probably working for one of the top three.
When you go to the caucus, there is a good possibility that the only viable candidates will be Clinton, Obama and Edwards. They want to know what you are going to do.

6. Whether this poll
was dishonest or not more people should think about this being the typical process. Out of thousands of calls the pressure is on to get a response, any response, that fits the poll- not your opinion. The mushiness of pushed answers alone makes this tea leaf reading "statistical" guessing game at the end not much more valuable than talking to a few neighbors and making astute judgments based on "experience". In a backward absurdity the guessing is justified by the past success of the polling- but is it the base phones or the end judgment call of the pollster? Is success determined by how little the iffy phone calling system mucks up reality?

The only opinion that counts- if the voting system is not rigged too- is the mark of the ballot.

7. Sounds Like He's Working For CNN
They need polls to "illustrate" their narratives. They want a horse-race and try to go out and get numbers to show just that. Most people play along with the game...you didn't. CHEERS TO YOU!!!!

The fact he didn't identify himself or his company sounds very suspicious. This doesn't sound like a push poll, but sure does look like someone wants to play with the numbers.
