1. I checked into this a little while back.
At that time I was unable to find any. Unless there have been some recent departures then that still remains true.

4. I think I remember seeing one or two mentioned
over on DailyKos...

pales in comparison to the number of Republics, though.

9. Were those Congress people leaving to run for the Senate?
If so that's what I found when I looked a while back. I didn't count them as actually leaving though since they were more or less looking to go up the ladder.

10. I don't think so
I think the one or two may have been actual retirements. I'll have to check it out again.

6. What's odd is, it looks like the Dems are going to control the House & Senate for years
So they won't have much lobbying power. BTW, I believe from what I've read only 1 or 2 Democrats have left.

7. Maybe that's why lobbies are stocking up...
Although "stocking up" with obstructionist has-beens like Lott is kind of funny.

8. It's No Fun Being A Repugnican
After sitting for 12 years in absolute wilderness, Democrats are just starting to get their sea-legs in being a majority party. This showed itself in the tepid way its reacted to boooosh's obstructionism. Most these reps were used to their mikes being shut off and holding meetings in the basement. It's been a learning curve that many still are just starting to realize.

We're seeing a similiar re-alignment as what happened following the '94 elections...at that time many incumbent Dems headed for the door. Now the shoe's on the other foot. Add to that the majority of states with Democratic controlled legislatures that will handle the re-districting in 2010 and the future looks darker.

Also, the RNCC and RNSC are a total disaster. Their money networks have been destroyed and most candidates will have to fend for themselves against a well-funded Democratic counterpart and ever-growing netroots. Include possible challenges from right wing groups like "Club For Growth" and retirement sounds like the way to go.
