Retiree Association Honoring Former First Daughter

UPDATED: 2:12 pm EST November 27, 2007

NEW YORK --

Caroline Kennedy turns 50 Tuesday, becoming eligible for membership in AARP.

But the retiree association has bigger plans in mind for the former first daughter.

They're honoring her for a lifetime of public service, and featuring her on the

http://www.aarpmagazine.org/people/inspire_awards_2008_kennedy.html">upcoming cover of AARP The Magazine.

Kennedy will receive one of the magazine's 2008 Inspire Awards next week and will be featured
on the cover of the January/February issue, on newsstands in December.

Since graduating from Harvard and finishing Columbia University law school, the mother of three
has raised tens of millions of dollars for New York City public schools.

She has also been active in the NAACP's Legal Defense and Education Fund and the bipartisan
Commission on Presidential Debates.

Kennedy was only 3 when her family moved into the White House.

On the cover of AARP at age 50?!? :wtf:

Give me a break!! That's absurd!

Edited to add:

2. Don't do it Caroline!
AARP became just another insurance company when the HMO's arrived...

new 30..60 the new 40 and so on..

I think the generations since our mothers or grandmothers' day are more aware of what it takes to be healthy and sparkling!

I saw Joan Rivers on TV today and she looked 30 years old!! :wtf:

Nice plastic surgery she's had. :eyes:

29. That's an option for some
but surgery can only do so much. Then there are those people I know who haven't had surgery even if they could afford it and they are in the category of looking 40 when they're 60ish... :)

23. I've Met Her - She Looks Her Age - And Has a Natural Beauty
Unadulterated. She has the lined face of someone who spends a lot of time outdoors.

In that photo she has the added benefits of make-up and lighting.

4. Happy Birthday Caroline!
I'll be joining you on the other side in a couple of months.

(When I was a baby my mom was very amused that the President had a child of almost the same age.)

I started getting AARP solicitations recently - Credit cards, insurance, etc. It feels pretty strange to me since I feel so youthful.

9. I'd say they're using good photo shop.
She is a pretty woman but I've seen her on TV and she looks older than that.

But she's still a pretty woman.

Beautiful genes make for beautiful people at any age.

She is still stunning, imho. I'm proud to be 50 along with her! Dammit! :P

I remember my mom telling me we were the same age... and I looked at my dad and thought, what a slacker! Her dad is president, fcol! haha!

16. I resent them 'pushing' it; as at 50 you can't retire
or collect SS retirement benefits either! Most people don't retire until
they're 65 or older and sometimes never but 50 for AARP is ridiculous.

26. Still at 50
it's not to early to start making plans if a person doesn't want to end up retiring in poverty. It's just the way it is now, everyone has to look out for themselves especially with the way repugs have f*cked up things. x(

It's BS!!! It has nothing to do with planning for retirement.

They're (AARP) just looking for more business and victims.

37. Wonder about what? BTW she 9 when the song became a hit
"For four decades, Neil Diamond has kept secret the identity of who inspired his 1966 Number One hit "Sweet Caroline." He recently performed the song via satellite at Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg's 50th birthday party and decided the time was right to tell her she was the one. "It was a picture of a little girl dressed to the nines in her riding gear, next to her pony. It was such an innocent, wonderful picture, I immediately felt there was a song in there," Diamond said. "I'm happy to have gotten it off my chest and to have expressed it to Caroline. I thought she might be embarrassed, but she seemed to be struck by it and really, really happy."
