I want to know why the people of Ar. don't support Huckabee.
Several months ago I said my biggest concern was Huck. He was a good speaker, what he said made sense most of the time, and he was a likeable guy. I had several people respond to me then that the people in Ar. didn't like him. No one ever told me why? I honestly think he stands a good chance of being the Pub nominee. I haven't found anything really bad against him, so I want to hear from the people in his home State. If you really don't like him...why not?

1. because he's a bona fide freeper
He even had his band play the freerepublic inaugural ball in 2001. It cannot be possible that a real freeper would become president.

2. Ask Max Brantley
An Arkansas journalist who lays it all out in a recent Salon piece, "The dark side of Mike Huckabee." Good read.

3. Thanks for the link!
We all need to keep this article in case Huckabee wins the GOP nomination.

He is trying to portray himself as Mr Reasonable. His record proves different.

6. Thank you VERY MUCH for that link! I feel a LOT BETTER now
about the possibility of the Pubs picking Huck as their nominee! Never having lived in Ar. I had no idea the dear boy wearing the halo really has a pair of horns too! He should be VERY EASY to defeat in a General election by ANYBODY!

If any of you haven't read the article, you really need to take the time to do so! We aren't talking only rumors here. We're talking about provable facts of dishonesty, ethics violations, greed, and misuse of public funds!

9. I had to hunt for it
Didn't recall at first where I had read it, but now it's bookmarked because it looks like we're gonna need it.

5. A handful of reasons.

Historically, we are distrustful of mixing religion and politics. This is not so much that we all read the Constitution on a daily basis; rather, we don't want anybody's preacher in the Governor's Mansion except our own.

Huckabee is a WHINER. Even with the vicious yellow rag known as the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette firmly behind him, let something be pointed out about his record or his actions, and the first thing he does is WHINE--about the media, the Liberal Conspiracy, the whatEVER.

He GORGES at the public trough. The Governor's Mansion Fund is intended for the upkeep and operation of the Governor's Mansion. Yet Huckabee saw nothing wrong with using Mansion funds to buy pizzas, pantyhose, doghouses, Velveeta and the like. This is just one example; there are many others.

He blatantly used a State Police aircraft for campaign trips and had the gall to tell us he wouldn't talk about it for "security reasons."

He embarasses us in the national media--as if we need any help in that department! His little one-liners about losing weight at a "Democrat concentration camp" and "putting Hillary on a rocket to Mars" and people sitting in a bathtub with razor blades ain't so much funny as they are MEAN.

This may seem like a small thing, but it rankles Arkies: he called the state a "banana republic" on the Imus show and saw no need to apologize to us about it. Last time I looked, we actually ELECTED his sorry ass TWICE.

He's a hypocrite, and we do NOT like that. More's the pity because he was kinda sorta OKAY until he started listening to his handlers early in his first goobernatorial term. Poke around the Arkansas Times website for more of his shenanigans. Look especially for Bob Lancaster's columns about the "Bro-Gov;" they are hilarious!

Hillary and Bill will open him up like a boiled peanut should he be the Republic nominee.

8. Why are the most pious politicians almost always also the most corrupt?

7. My brother who lives in Arkansas says Huckabee is a damn crook.
He never went into detail, but he did say everybody in Arkansas hate him, including republicans!
