Senator Byrd Is In Line For Presidency After Pelosi
i just saw a thread saying byrd should retire

well, i caught the opening of the senate today and learned that byrd is "president Pro Tempore of the Senate" which means he is fourth in line for the presidency (that is if you count fuckhead who is already the resident of the office)

thought i'd just put that out there...(i never knew this)
by the way, condi is after byrd.

:scared:

1. This is a silly game we play
Robert Byrd is a fine and upstanding statesman.
No need to fear the reaper...he most certainly doesn't.

4. Why don't we just make the Senate Majority Leader third in line?
Edited on Sat Feb-17-07 07:22 PM by Ignacio Upton
President Pro Tempore is really a figure-head status based on the fact that you've served in the Senate for eons. A Majority Leader isn't as likely to have served as long (Reid was first elected in 1986 and is roughly the same age as Pelosi.)

6. Because the majority leader only represents the majority, and is ONLY chosen by their party
The Speaker, technically, is elected by the entire House and represents the entire House.

Of course, he/she is almost always from the majority party, but it's not a "partisan" job, inherently.
