Besides sour grapes at being in the minority, what is the benefit to rethugs
for voting 'for' the war and surge? I realize they're 'supporting' the blivet, but what do they think they'll gain? They're going against the majority of Americans despite 'what passes for the news' is reporting. You'd think they'd be angering a majority of their constituents. What's the deal? And more importantly, it seems like they're getting away with it.

1. Just a guess, and it's delusional as hell...
But I'm thinking they're hedging their bets in the off chance the surge actually works, in which case they can make an "L" on their forehead with their finger and thumb and yell, "Face!!" at the Democrats.

4. Welcome to DU! As another green-eyed lefty, I salute you!
:patriot: From all logical people I've heard, including many soldiers, this won't work. They might just be biding time to blame it all on the Dems. I don't really know; makes no sense to me otherwise.

2. Two big one's I can think of are 1) escalating the war will generate
more profits for their corporate masters, which will inevitably lead to greater rewards for them.

2) the longer they delay the inevitable failure in the ME clusterphuck they've produced, the more likely they can lay off blame on the Democrats with the "see they did it too" defense in the next cycle.

The sheeple are well known to have two major traits that can always be counted on, fear of everything, and no memory.

3. How much money is ENOUGH already?
Somehow, the Dems will be blamed, bet on it. They're just trying to squeeze the dim one through his last -2 years. I hope it blows up in their collective faces. :grr:

7. Shot Across the Bow
It's a shot across the bow at peace-loving Americans.

It says to those of us committed to peace, "Hey, Even though we lost the election, you still have to deal with us, on our terms".

It's really too bad we did not crush the rethugs in the last election.

I long for the days when we had a veto-proof (and filibuster-proof) majority in the Senate.

That should be our ultimate goals.
