An observation about "ties"....
I'm pretty sure * wore a "red" tie in every previous STOU as did Cheney. But tonight, * had a "blue" tie. And Cheney, well the best he could do was purple (red+blue) - why am I not surprised, that ass.

I'm not sure if my memory is accurate on this or why this even matters ??? Figured I would throw it out there to see if anyone else noticed and to test my aging memory (I'm sure if I'm wrong someone out there will let me know :o)

2. Noticed that too
My roommate's boyfriend was joking about the Shrub wearing 'pacifying, neutral blue' instead of 'power red' tonight...perhaps he wasn't too far off the mark? I dunno.

And on a (somewhat) related note, did it bother any other CNN watchers that Anderson Cooper was wearing a dotted tie with a pinstriped suit? I'm a fan of the guy, and I think he could probably look good in just about anything, but that combination seemed a bit distracting to me. Just sayin'.

/tie-obsessive fangirlishness

5. I Did Not See Anderson Cooper's Clothing
but per John Molloy of "Dress for Success," small polka dotted ties in conservative colors are a traditional and upper-class pattern and can go well with a narrow pinstripe, which is a power suit. He's got that upper-class Vanderbilt sensibility.

Most of the people tonight are more powerful than Anderson. His attire suggests that he is not retiring and accepting a subordinate role, but dressing more powerfully and asserting his right to be in that company. Just a thought.

8. Interesting.
I bow to your superior knowledge. :) (No, I'm not being sarcastic...I really don't know these things, and I'm always happy to learn.)

3. The "tie" that pissed me off was the continuing one between
911 and Iraq - which of course he denies he makes until he makes it (he is clearly against this tie until he needs to make it).

4. This has come up once or twice before.
My opinion is, given that we KNOW B*shCabal™ Inc pays
a lot of attention to symbols and subliminal messages:

He's switched to the blue tie in an attempt to make Joe Sixpack
subconsciously connect him with the DEMOCRATS.

Think about it: until last Nov, a RED tie was almost an official
uniform of the Repubs, for six years.
Then suddenly, after a disastrous across-the-board defeat at the polls,
they all start showing up wearing blue ties.

Not just any blue, either. "Democratic Party" blue.

7. I've noticed the blue tie recently.
I didn't make the connection to the Democratic Party though.

The first time I saw Bush with a blue tie, it looked he tied it with his feet. An oversized knot, in a blue tie that didn't seem to go with the dark suit he was wearing. It reminded me of someone being let out of rehab to appear in court and their attorney pulling a tie out of their briefcase.

:)
