Where does the AP get their Iraqi civilian death information from?

Where does the AP get their Iraqi civilian death information from?
Their latest article states that the number of Iraqis killed last month fell to 718.

The article goes on to post http://www.iraqbodycount.org/ as a source, but that site's records estimate civilian deaths at 1,100 for November. And they're pretty accurate, tallying death by death in detail from actual reports.

Both estimates are horrible by any standards. But it's odd that the AP would get their numbers so far off. Perhaps trying to put a rosier picture on the violence?
