For her first Christmas
Recently over in the big city from me, Tulsa Ok, they opened a time capsule buried 50 years prior. In that vein I am thinking about making our own time capsule for our first grand daughter as my first Christmas present to her. For her to open it on her 21st birthday and for us to seal it up on her first birthday four months hence. Have it be open to her family and aquaintenences to contribute whatever so as she will have an inside feel for who we each were and/or are and how we felt about things during this first year of her life, her being able to do that by what we as individuals include. Let her mother put a summary of us, who we are etc in so our granddaughter can have a better brush with which to paint a picture of who we were and who she is twenty years into the future. Of course let her mother and father have the last say as to what is in there when it is closed.
Overall good idea or bad idea?
peace to all and merry christmas to most;-)

1. A wonderful idea! I wish I had something similar from any of my grandparents -
I never knew any of them. I think it will mean a LOT to her some day.

2. I think it's a great idea.
I know a man who writes letters to his grandchildren every Christmas and seals them up for opening "when the time is right." It's up to the kids or to the kids' parents to decide when that is. When grandpa dies? When the kids turn 18? Whenever they want? One on each birthday? His oldest grandkid is almost 9, and none of the letters have been open yet...but I think it's a neat tradition.

3. yes it is a nice thing to do
we kids had our dad to relay the stories of past to us but whats to say my grand daughter will have that luxury so by doing things like this we insure she know who we are.
thanks for the encouragement:-)
