Iran never showed weakness
That is why Bush leaked the info that Iran shut down its nuclear program. If Iran's leaders had showed weakness (like Saddam did) Bush would have attacked them. That is the way bullies are. They only prey on the weak. They size you up and if they conclude that you aren't scared of them they leave you alone and find someone easier to mess with. If you show fear its all over.

The saber rattling worked on Saddam. It didn't work on Iran. Thats what I think happened.

"bulge" for the ayatollahs and your estimate as to why sure sounds right...

2. The NIE was so compelling that they have to finally admit that Iran
isn't a threat. The only positive outcome of the Iraq mess is that it will be a while before a nutjob "president" can lie the country into another invasion/occupation.

Unlike Iran, Iraq didn't have a military or the ability to fight back.

You can bet Iran's military capabilities gave the Bushies pause after the FUBAR Iraq turned into.
