Argh! - ABC local news- Boston- "Military Children" Were Welcomed at the WH...
Edited on Mon Dec-03-07 06:10 PM by Breeze54
Almost perfectly paraphrasing:

"White House was filled with holiday cheer today when the Bush family welcomed "military children" to the WH
to celebrate the holidays and they were reminded to thank their parents for the sacrifices they are making"

I think I'm just going to fucking SCREAM!!!! :wtf:

Now they aren't the children OF military parents but they're now "military children"???

The children are NOT in the military!!!

:grr: :nuke:

2. Yes, that is new!!

Military brat, army brat is different. Those children are moved from base to base but

A lot of today's children of enlisted are very likely National Guard and don't move around.

"military children" implies that they have a decision in their fate, imho.

It's BS, wrong and I'm writing them a letter! Those Assholes!!

6. Since it was a chance to pick of the spirits of kids hurt by Bush's war...
calling them 'military brats' would have been pretty insensitive.

Headline syntax is different than English syntax.

10. 'Children OF military parents' would have been appropriate.

13. It was a headline, right? They saved nine letters by avoiding that mouthful
There's a lot of real shit to get upset about. You don't have to force it.

15. No, it wasn't a headline or I would have linked it.
Edited on Mon Dec-03-07 07:29 PM by Breeze54
It was spoken on the local ABC newscast! Hence the title of my OP!

Indoctrinating people to think that way is outrageous, in my book!

I'm not forcing anything! They are!!! :grr:

We have enough fucking recruiters cruising schools and the young!

3. Perhaps now the Bush Administration can reopen the White House to public tours again
That house does not belong to him, or any other president. It is the people's house, and tours must be resumed for the general public again.

5. REAL military children:
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/04/books/review/04baker.html

The book is called "Beasts of No Nation," by Uzodinma Iweala and it was so goddamn sad that I cried and cried and cried...

"I am not wanting to fight. I am not liking to hear people scream or to be looking at blood. I am not liking any of these thing."

9. I don't know... but they looked 'happy', as far as they
can be happy having their parent (S) in a war zone. :(

14. Relax - I knew that the headline refers to the children of people in the military
and mY first reaction was disgust at Bush once again using innocents to bolster his war.

16. It wasn't a headline!!
They said it on the news!!!!!!!!

And I won't relax about it.

That's what's wrong with this fucking country!

To many people are relaxing instead of speaking out against this crap!
