It's the final month of 2007 and the politicos have shifted to high gear to nab your attention and/or tax-deductible campaign contributions. After all, it's hard to compete with Santa, the cool new electronics and toys, and primo movie releases.

First Chuckneluts used the calander countdown to once again chastise Congress for failing to act promptly on his neocon agenda. Again he (falsely) warned that our troops overseas would be starved and forced to wage battle with rocks and slingshots if Congress didn't pass a multi-billion dollar war supplemental. Hey Mensa Man, if you're so concerned about the troops, why not bring them home?

On the campaign trail, Mitt Romney plans to give a "Kennedyesque" speech explaining how his Mormon faith will not interfere with his potential presidential actions. CBS reports: "Romney has frequently been asked whether he would consider delivering a speech about his faith along the lines of the address John F. Kennedy gave when his Catholic faith provoked a similar discussion in the 1960 presidential campaign. When asked about the possibility of giving such a speech by CBS News chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer last month, Romney replied, 'I probably could never do something that would compare to what John F. Kennedy did - his was a masterpiece in American political history.'"

Gotta be bad for Republicans if they're aspiring to emulate Democrats.

On the other side of the campaign, while Obama and Clinton fight for famous clebrity endorsements, John Edwards is quietly gaining ground in Iowa. According to the AP: "John Edwards on Monday planned to air a television ad in New Hampshire that blames lobbyists for keeping 47 millions Americans without health insurance. 'You're going to sit at a table with drug companies and oil companies and they're going to give away their power. Right,' Edwards says as the ad shows voters laughing at his sarcasm. 'You have to take their power away from them. There's nothing we can't do — if we do it together.' Edwards trails Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama in New Hampshire and remains in a tight race with them in Iowa. 'Anybody who argues that every American is not entitled to health care, I want them to explain to you: What child in this country is not worthy of health care?'"

Excellent question. Let's hope the voters are paying more attention to this than they are to the latest holiday TV ads for Best Buy.

One Christmas, about 5 years ago, it started out raining but turned to snowwhile we were at Mr. smokey's parent's house in Brooklyn (about 15 miles away), it took us about an hour to get home. I NEVER drive in snow or freezing rain unless I absolutely have to.

but we have fires ... and earthquakes, although I'm not worried about fire because I'm the middle of a bunch of cement (tract homes) and I'm about 10 miles away from the hills.

As for earthquakes, I'm just used to them, and they don't even rile me. Most of them are fairly small, and only last a few seconds. So, we go on a rollercoaster ride for a few seconds every couple of years (they say they are happening every day, but we don't feel them).

Your little pal Sesame surprised the crap out of me yesterday. My long tall grey kitty who drops in from the roof now and then was paying a visit. I try to escort him out the front so my cats don't freak out. When I opened the door, Sesame went flying out and started hissing ferociously and attached Mr. Long Legs from behind. :rofl: I could not believe it. Little sweet Sesame. Riiiiiight. Attack Cat!! It was so funny. Legs turned around and did a double take. He didn't even fight back.

Being from Cleveland, I have issues with several franchises (which Mr. c loyally shares with me).

The Baltimore team was originally the Cleveland Browns franchise that Evil Art Modell sneaked out of town one night to create the Crows (Ravens to the uninformed). We do not like the Crows.

By association, we do not like the Ponies - er - Colts. If they'd stayed in Baltimore where they belonged, the Crows wouldn't exist.

Browns fans also hate the Steelers on general principle.

I haven't lived in Cleveland for 25 years, but old habits die hard.
