Does this sound like an accurate statement?
Conservatives want to ignore or disregard the Constitution...

Liberals want to rewrite it.

1. That's 2 statements.
Liberals want to "rewrite" it needs more explanation or an example.

2. Not this liberal.
I think the Constitution is fine the way it is. I just want to see it actually enforced again.

4. The Constitution is fine the way it is
It would be a much better country if the letter and the SPIRIT of the Constitution were observed.

5. Flag amendment? Marriage amendment?
Patriot Act? Habeas corpus? Spying on citizens? Preemptive war? Supreme Court deciding elections? Executive privilege?

I think conservatives want to ignore it except to the extent that they can rewrite it.

8. No.
Try this:

Conservatives want to ignore or disregard the Constitution...

Liberals want to rewrite honor and observe it.

Where'd "rewrite it" come from, anyway?

11. From those that find fault with it.
Abolish the electoral college, mandate national health care, apply equal marriage to the states.

13. That would only take amending it...
not rewriting it.

15. What Mythsaje said.
And that's why a very careful process for adding amendments is included in the Constitution.

9. Where the hell did that come from? The Constitution is something
people have died for. You don't have people die for something then change it. Even amendments must not encroach on implied, established or inalienable rights. I will argue this point with any person with a dozen law degrees on Constitutional law. :dem:

What I question is those that would have us follow a European role model (which would require changes or a rewrite/changes to the Constitution).

WRT the other side, they'd prefer things as is, but do an end run and claim that it's allowed as long as it's to their advantage.

16. Who, exactly, is advocating "following a European role model"
of rewriting our Constitution?
