Dear Hillary Haters ........
Congratulate yourselves. You've managed to take a person who never supported Sen Clinton for anything (other than .... maybe ..... Senator from New York) and convert that person to a Hillary Defender.

Let me say that again: "Hillary Defender."

A Hillary Defender is very different from a Hillary Supporter. A Hillary Defender only speaks out when people toss shit at Hillary Clinton. A Hillary Defender won't even vote for Hillary in the primaries because a Hillary Defender, very simply, doesn't support Hillary Clinton. But a Hillary Defender **will** call you on your shit every time. Much of it for fun. Its fun to watch that vein in your forehead throb, as your face gets redder and redder in anger. A Hillary Defender does it to play you for a goof. Its endlessly entertaining.

See, here's the thing. If you stayed silent, her support would naturally drop. Every candidate is their own worst enemy. She's no different. But you visceral haters have this compulsion to fan the flames. And the flames are about to burn your asses.

Out of SHEER PERVERSITY, a Hillary Defender will counter every piece of crap thing you utter against her.

You guys are a great source of entertainment and diversion from the woes of the day. You're comical, really.

(Note: honest critics of Hillary Clinton are not the target of this. Indeed, the author of this thread has been and will again be a Hillary critic.)

allegiance to anyone or anything if they let a board that is full of attacks and bs determine how they are going to vote.

3. I understand the concept
I'm not a Hillary supporter either, but when Tweety rips on her night after night for the most ridiculous things - like clapping - even that goes too far over the line for me. That isn't legitimate criticism and it's when I, too, become a Hillary defender. Maybe it's solidarity with another woman, I really don't know. But some of the more extreme hatred is ridiculous.

4. I am a truth defender
Be it Hillary or any other candidate, if it isn't the truth, don't post it, don't email it and don't say it because I will counter any and all lies against any of the candidates.

So I would guess I too am a Hillary Defender.

9. I agree. I was a lukewarm "leaning Clinton but looking for an alternative" but now
am becoming more solidly Clinton. Part of it is the anti Clinton bullshit but I try to take that out of my decision. The bullshit is more turning me off of the other candidates than turning me on to Clinton but I'll probably end up voting for her in the Primary.

17. See, I think that's the real danger ......
..... you're an informed person and largely immune to pure hatred and spew, but there are many out there who do little political critical thinking and simply vote as a reaction to buzz. The Hillary Haters' buzz is such that many could well be prone to voting for her out of perversity.

12. Of course, the definition of "Hillary Hater" is...
Anyone who says, "I support (candidate other than Clinton) in the primary."

Crimey, the whole "Dear Hillary Haters" crowd reminds me very strongly of the Talibangelical weeping and moaning about how liberals hate real Christians. :eyes:

20. Well, I WISH I could vote for her. You have no idea how much I would LOVE to have a female President
That IWR vote is a non-starter for me. IF she'd apologize for that vote, like Edwards did, and admit she was WRONG, I would maybe rethink my vote, but then there's the Corporate lobbyist money and her friendship with Murdoch that bugs the hell outta me too.:(

There's something about EACH of the Dem candidates I don't like, except Dodd. I'm working through which one I can forgive for whatever they have done. The illegal invasion is pretty much unforgivable though. A simple apology from Hill would make things so much easier for me.

22. You're absolutely correct. I support another candidate. However, the Hillary HATE,...
,...compels me to defend her as far better than ANY ANY ANY Republican candidate and to also defend her record (especially as a sponsor or co-sponsor of legislation) which MOST CLOSELY REFLECTS my concerns than ALL Republicans and MOST Democrats.

That is just the truth!

It isn't as if she reads this board. Some of her supporters get on my nerves. It is like it is a football game for some people and they have a million dollar bet on her winning. I am interested in the issues and not the bickering on things of no consequence. She is not my first choice but better than any of the republicans running. That ends up being my bottom line.

26. Tell me... what is more insulting-
1) That the candidate you support or defend is ignored to death?
2) That the candidate you support or defend is pelleted with insults?

Just wondering... I'd say, even bad press keeps the defenders and otherwise supporters knowing that the candidate is IN THE FIGHT. I can't say the same for all the people who've been handed their hat so early in the game... because the MSM ignored them to death.

29. I No Longer Swell With Pride
in regards to Hillary Clinton. As a woman, I am thrilled there is a woman running for president. I would tear up with pride watching her performance in the first few debates.

She was my girl, and even though she wasn't my first choice, I would proudly vote for her in the GE.

Now I'm not so sure about Hillary and it's not me hating, or DU - it's Hillary. She's changed her tone because she's losing ground and I don't much care for it. Eight years of George Bush have traumatized me and this whiny, cocky, Hillary is bumming me out.

I will vote for her if she's our girl, but right now in December 08, I've lost the enthusiasm I once had towards her. Hope it comes back, because I've always been so proud of our candidates of past - I'd like to pull that lever with the same pride.

Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 07:19 PM by JNelson6563
It strikes me as odd that when there is a critical thread posted on just about any candidate, it is the supporters of that candidate that tend to keep it kicked. I mean we are talking repeated ad nauseum kicking with stupid little pointless comments. I always, always wonder why in the world do they keep kicking that shit?

Additionally I find it equally odd that opponents of whoever a positive thread is about will also kick that repeatedly with silly, snipey little remarks. They come off looking foolish and petty while keeping the positive thread kicked.

There seems to be no end to the stupidity of forum behavior here at DU during primary season. I myself have let many personal attack sslide simply by refusing to kick a stupid/pointless/counterproducte thread repeatedely.
