31. I've been thinking about him
I actually had not known if his wife died; I know she was in a very critical condition and was likely not to survive. Since he hasn't been on the board, I figured she had probably passed away. Poor, poor man.

4. Last time I heard from him was late October
I took part in Race For The Cure in honor of Mrs. OMC. He knows about it and is very grateful.

I'm thinking his plate is just really full right now, and the holidays are going to hit him hard, especially with two kids who still need consoling.

18. Helderheid, I had a quick look at fruit baskets, and if you like that idea, I'll
be happy to do the research and find the best one at the best price. From what I saw for 50.00 we can get a beautiful big basket full of organic fruit, with some chocolates.

If there is more than that they have bigger and better options. Anyway, I'll find a nice looking basket online and post it for you to see.

we could get that Fruit of the Month thing ;-). It would be something nice to look forward to, and the first year's rough. Plus, fruit's always good with growing kids.

Of course, this is IMHO, but I'm in if you all are doing this.

And, like many people here, I was very sad for him and his family.

I think some sort of holiday basket from DU would be a wonderful gesture.

34. It's not going to change his grief, but maybe for a moment the surprise will
give him a smile. If we give him 5 minutes of feeling better, that may be the best we can do. When we are grieving, a tiny reprieve from sadness is always welcome. It makes us aware that there is light ahead...

35. ok guys i'm going to sleep. I'll check in tomorrow. I vote harry and david,
and I checked, they charge for shipping. So that basket is actually 127.99. But they have nice options at different prices, so if we collect less it can be slightly smaller and if more it can be larger. Their delivery looks like 2 weeks. or else they charge more for expedited shipping. It would still get there 2 weeks before xmas, which is good. I will volunteer to send the basket, and collect the paypal. if someone else will volunteer to find out how to find him, and someone else to write a card.

When he's ready to return, he'll return. Maybe he'll never return, but if that is his choice that is his choice.

Hopefully not, though. I might have disagreed often with OMC, but he was a strong member of our DU extended family and will be again, if he wishes.

It wouldn't surprise me if he disappeared from DU for a year. He is going through things many or most of us cannot even imagine.

We do miss you, OMC, even those of us who would frequently get into "shouting matches" with you.

And DU will still be here when you are ready to return.
