The Love Song of Dennis J. Kucinich

No Wonder the Candidate Saw a UFO. He's Been Up There on Cloud Nine.

By Libby Copeland
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, December 5, 2007; Page C01

HART'S LOCATION, N.H. ne day last spring, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, the Ohio Democrat and long-shot presidential candidate, and his young British wife, Elizabeth, were sitting in an Italian restaurant in Dupont Circle.

They were by the window. They were holding hands. Elizabeth Kucinich was looking lovely, as usual -- the red hair, the luminous skin, the green eyes, the fine cheekbones. Dennis was looking, as usual, like Dennis Kucinich.

This guy passed by the window. He stopped. He stared at Elizabeth through the glass. Then he came into the restaurant and walked right up to their table.

"Doesn't even look at me!" Dennis is saying, grinning, as he retells this story between campaign stops. "He looks at her and he says, 'You are the most incredibly beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life!' I'm sitting right there, you know?"

"We're holding hands!" Elizabeth exclaims, in her elegant accent. She's lounging in front of the inn's fireplace, all six feet of her, looking like Botticelli's Venus, only with clothes on.

..snip

:wtf: Is this real journalism?

If it does deserve to be published, why not put it in the Sunday Magazine.

1. I managed to get through the whole article this morning..
just barely though.

Politics aside, it struck me that I would never want to be around these two. They are the types that when they are together, there's nobody else in the room, and they're totally into PDA. I hate that, it makes me feel very uncomfortable.

I'm glad for them, that they've apparently each found their soul mates, but really get over yourselves you two...:eyes:

7. I might LIKE you..
I'd just be very uncomfortable being around you, if that's the way you act around others. Remember how you felt back in school when kids were whispering to each other right in front of your face?

3. I am glad they are happy together, but I couldn't get through the whole thing.
I just don't really care what they do privately or together. It to me is NOT newsworthy. And why is the Post writing this story.

5. They would have been better served just to do a profile of her..
she sounds like a very interesting person, but it got to mushy gushy cutesy wootsy for my taste.

6. I'm not gloppy myself
but it doesn't bother me. The man has the answers and he is constant. His values mirror what I think this country needs so I don't care if he holds his beautiful wifes hand. Peace, kIm

8. What gets me, is that they run this sappy piece of crap, yet
will not cover what his plans and policies are.

:grr:

The country needs to hear what he is saying and not what his personal life is.

10. I agree with you..
the article was heavy on the Shirley Maclaine mysticism, UFO angle. It was almost tongue-in-cheek, like "look what a couple of new age lefty nuts these two are".

12. I hear that.
They minimize his policies by focusing on garbage.

13. I first saw this in another thread
and my first thought was "I just threw up in my mouth a little."

If I actually read the whole story, I'll probably throw up a lot.
