Want to see a disturbing image?

Green=Countries that have ratified the Kyoto Protocol

Yellow=Countries with ratification pending

Grey=Countries that have not formally expressed an opinion

Red=Countries that have DECLINED to ratify.

Can it be any clearer? We're all alone...

13. If only that meant anything. The environment doesn't care about ratification...
...if the government refuses to follow through.

Canada may as well be as red as the USA, especially since we're the second biggest polluters after the USA.

19. Yes, Canada needs to be shown in red
Or in another colour - ratified it, but reneging.

20. I agree, our ratification means nothing
The few small things we were doing (energy audits/insulation credit) have now been stopped by Harper.

8. Scary, but I wouldn't believe them...
They pirate and instead of getting jailed, they get sweet deals for legit goods.

We gave them an economic base and in return they make toxic, cheaply made garbage.

Why should we believe them on the kyoto issue?

Indeed, last I heard, China is still intent on using coal and oil.

Which media source shall I believe today?

11. Perhaps you are right...
...although I seem to remember Gore saying they had indeed reduced their emissions somewhat in "Inconvenient Truth."

But even so, what the hell does the US stand to GAIN for their outright refusal to sign on? After all, we pump out more emissions than anybody!

16. Haven't you heard?
The Kyoto Treaty is anti-American because we would have to cut emissions more than Kenya would.

Go figure that the same people who want a flat tax bring you a wonderful argument such as that.

Maybe we could vote separately from the rest of the U.S. on the Kyoto Protocol. People up here aren't denying global warming much -- we see it at work up close.
