Will Bernie Ward be back?

For those that don't know he was indicted for downloading some images of child porn, he said it was research for a book he was writing.

He is a very popular liberal talk show host out of San Francisco KGO radio.

I have listened to him for years, I have really mixed feelings about this.

I was shocked to hear the news, and I wonder if he will come back or will he be fired or not allowed to continue his show anymore.

They have a substitute host for the time being.

When you read the story it sounds like he wasn't into pedophilia but that he made a bad error in downloading the images. But it sounds like he wasn't into that stuff, only that he made a big mistake.

I would hate to see his entire life ruined by this, I know he has kids and a family and this is quite a serious situation.

What do you think?

other than this story, so my perception is not worth much. Unfortunately I would probably be more skeptical if he weren't a former priest. I find that sadder than the accusations.

accusations by telling his side of the story. I sense political retribution against one of the most ardent liberals in the country, from SF, a former employee of Sen. Boxer. From what I've read so far, this downloading happened 4 YEARS AGO. That's very suspicious, n'est pas?

On the other hand, if it's true, he must be held accountable too. I just hope it works out OK and he can continue to be an important voice for the Left.

I have listened to Bernie for YEARS this is a political hit job. More than three years ago the police searched his house, confiscated his hard drive - FILES NOT on hard drive - had to go to AOL to prove he accessed them - found NOTHING in the house or anywhere else to indicate anything to do with child pornography - only a few days that he accessed these sites for research.

My understanding is the US Attorney of three years ago was one of the ones "fired" and replaced AND the local US attorney has turned this over to the Washington DC office. If you know how critical Bernie is of this administration you'd know this is a political hit job.

I totally believe Bernie and TRUST him - I listen to him faithfully 18 hours a week and I don't even live in freaking CA

He is a self described progressive talk show host. He believes the word 'liberal' has been so corrupted by the regressives that he refuses to use it.

Will Bernie will be back? I really don't know, but I hope so. He has been in trouble his entire life and always bounces back. I suspect this whole episode will fizzle and blow out because there is no there there, but KGO may dump him nevertheless. His radio ratings are sterling and another station to pick him up in a flash.

If they are not, we will know soon enough.

But it's pretty loathsome how people here on DU tip-toe around the issues afraid to be labeled as pedophiles just because they support someone they enjoy listening to on the radio.
