COLUMBUS, Ohio -- New details were discovered Thursday about what happened the night a Columbus police officer was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run.

Investigators said Officer Lisa M. Smith was driving the vehicle that struck a 13-year-old boy, who was riding his bike on Nov. 3. Officials said Smith fled the scene after the crash, NBC 4's Mike Jackson reported.

According to copies of police reports, Smith, a 17-year veteran of the police force, may not have been fully truthful about her plans on the night of the crash.

According to police documents, Smith called in sick at 11:45 a.m. on the day of the crash. She said she went to her doctor's office, picked up medicine and planned to spend the weekend in bed. But receipts showed that Smith spent time in Memories Food and Spirits in Grove City, running up a $34 bar tab.

.....

Smith has been reassigned from the vice unit during the investigation.
