Supporters of KGO-AM talk show host Bernie Ward have established a legal defense fund as he battles child pornography charges, and they've set up a Web site, http://home.comcast.net/~supportbernieward/site/. Lynne Sloan, who produced Ward's Sunday morning "God Talk" show, revealed the site and the fund in a posting on the Democratic Underground site. "I am writing to you to thank you for your support, care and concern for Bernie," Sloan writes. "Your abundant well wishes and prayers are of great comfort to the Ward family."

I despise perverts and especially child perverts who touch or talk to children inappropriately! I'd rather take them out back and shoot them.....That said, I sense deep down in my heart Bernie Ward is being exploited and is innocent.

I'd donate cash to Cheney 08 before I gave it to a pedophiles defense fund.

It's about looking at/downloading once, child porn essentially, while he was doing an investigative report on the subject....which he documented and kept others informed of his progress. So, not a sandbox case at all.

giving them money is another. At the very best, this guy is guilty of spreading child porn and contributing to the demand for it. At worst, he IS the demand for it.

Forgive me for not being impressed by his lame Pete Townsend defense. Why exactly would he need to collect child porn to do a story on it? I don't think anyone would have argued with him if he claimed it existed without verifying it for himself.

what does he need to SEE it for? research on it can be easily done without accessing the images.

I never saw crack either so I asked a few legal friends to show me some collected evidence, including paraphernalia. Visual inspection is a part of the learning verses using one's imagination. I understand the porn pic's were tools.

A big chunk of the Justice Department is going to go down with it.

I'm betting someone in the Justice Department threw this case out onto the water as a life raft, hoping that as the Bush Administration sinks beneath the waves some GOP sugar daddies will will sail by and pick them up.

Bernie's guilt or innocence is probably irrelevant to them. They essentially shut him down when they first notified him that they'd been watching the transactions.

This case has all the sound bytes a right wing shit throwing simian could dream of... A loud anti-war San Francisco Left Wing ex-Catholic Priest radio show host might be a (gasp) pedophile!

Maybe I'll hang around so I can see how many people feel the need to tell us how vile pedophiles are... like someone is going to argue with that???

I mean if you are in prison for raping your drunk mom after she scolded you for shoplifting a counterfeit Reno 911 uncensored DVD from a toothless old street vendor, and the police caught you because your balls got caught in a fence you were jumping while she was chasing your naked ass through the town screaming "I'm gonna kill you Mother Fucker!" then yeah, maybe you need to feel someone, anyone, is beneath you, but come on folks...
