State Supreme Court hears barking dog case



COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The Ohio Supreme Court has heard arguments in the case of a barking dog whose owner was charged with violating a Columbus law against noisy pets.

Prosecutor Lara Baker says the 8-year-old Shih Tzu (SHEET'-soo), Lucky, barked continuously for 90 minutes, and she says that was a clear violation of an ordinance barring residents from keeping "unreasonably loud" animals.

But dog owner Rebecca Kim asks: How loud is too loud?

Her lawyer argued before the state's highest court on Tuesday that the law is so vague it's unconstitutional. Attorney Mark Miller says everyone has a different sensitivity when it comes to dog barking.
