Bush Vetoes Child Health Care Bill Again Asks For 200 Billion For Iraq and Afghanistan War

(Best Syndication) The President vetoed a bill Wednesday that would have expanded a federally funded health care program for children saying that it would move us “in the wrong direction.” The President reiterated his position that more money is needed to fund Iraqi reconstruction and wage war there. This is the correct direction, according to Whitehouse Press Secretary Dana Perino.

In a press conference today, Perino said “Clearly, the President has been calling for -- and others have been calling for - the troops be able to be secure in the fact that they would have the money that they need in order to carry out their mission.” The President is asking for another $200 billion for 2008 for both the conflict and rebuilding effort in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The President feels that too much money will be spent on American kids. He complained that the child health care bill would have cost the taxpayer an extra $35 billion over the next five years.

In a statement today the President said “Because the Congress has chosen to send me an essentially identical bill that has the same problems as the flawed bill I previously vetoed, I must veto this legislation, too.”

1. that's it... "move us in the wrong direction"
that's the excuse and it flies?

Bush won't fund veterans money, "because it will send the wrong message".

Bush won't end the war, "because then the terrorists might understand it differently".

It's the same non-explanations and the Congress, our elected representatives, don't seem to be able to say to them, "no, fuck that, I don't approve and here's how I'm going to show you that I don't approve".

I'm so tired of having to read this guy get away with highway robbery all the time.

3. It's A Bush Priority, Killing Children
Without health care here some children might die, but with 200 billion for bombs and bullets it's definite that children will die.
