Larisa Alexandrovna: "I know what CBS is sitting on-I will not hesitate to scoop their story"

The Permanent Republican Majority - Update...

Folks, I apologize for the delay in getting part III of the Permanent Republican Majority out, but look for it tomorrow at RS. Click on Part I to read the first installment, The Political Prisoner. Click on Part II for my interview with Governor Siegelman's daughter Dana. Also, check out the time-line here.

On Background (not really):

I cannot get into specifics as to why we are delayed a bit, but suffice it to say that people talking to us are feeling a great deal of heat.

.......................

I cannot get into specifics as to why we are delayed a bit, but suffice it to say that people talking to us are feeling a great deal of heat.

In addition, I am hearing from multiple sources that the whistle-blower in the case, Dana Jill Simpson is now under investigation by US Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama, Alice Martin and that Ms. Martin is having Ms. Simpson tailed. Unfortunately I don't have enough specifics to have included this in my upcoming article, but perhaps if Congress is interested they can call Ms. Martin for an explanation.

One other thing I heard a great deal about recently is that despite the valiant efforts of the journalists and producers who put 60 Minutes together, Governor Bob Riley is bragging to have squashed the expose via corporate channels. This would not be the first time the corporate owners of 60 Minutes caved to the pressures of big money and political pressure. I am, hoping, however that if the public remains aware of what is going on, CBS corporate will air the story. It is up to you to keep the pressure on.

Let me put it another way and for the benefit of the CBS executives who are standing between solid journalism and the right of the public to know the truth:

By the time part V of our series runs, CBS will either have aired the story or killed it quietly hoping no one would notice. But just so we are all clear, I know what CBS is sitting on and although I am not investigating that angle, I will not hesitate to scoop their story if they don't stand by their promise to give their sources the protection of public exposure. I will not hesitate for a moment to also include CBS corporate as part of my story either.

Again, I am not addressing the fine work of the producers and journalists working for 60 Minutes. I am specifically addressing CBS corporate, the executives I am hearing about and if the allegations are true, then they are effectively planning to censor the work of their investigative team. Either way the truth will come out.

1. Very intriguing
If it's a big enough story, it would be great for Huff Post or RawStory to scoop it so that they could compete with Drudge.

Posted by Kathy:

Please note the emphasis is mine, the latest on Siegelman from Harper's:

For those of you who missed last night’s segment on MSNBC with Dan Abrams, here it is. As Abrams said, the prosecutors have had a pass on their completely outrageous conduct for far too long, and now it’s time for the mainstream media to keep on top of them and expose the extremely seedy underside of a political hit job. The story is coming out.

I am hearing from three different news groups suggestions that each is close to breaking a significant further lead in this case. The new information, it was suggested, will show that prosecutors in the case used evidence that they knew, or had substantial reason to know, was simply false, and will link Karl Rove much more closely to Alabama Governor Bob Riley and to the plans to “get” Siegelman using a false corruption charge. The journalists in question are pushing for further corroboration before going with these stories, but I am still expecting more by the end of the year.

Another thing I keep hearing from the network folks who have researched the case: what’s up with these two Alabama newspapers? Their coverage is absolutely bizarre. As if they existed in some alternate reality. Exactly.

Larisa, would you be one of these journalists Scott Horton is alluding to? You can tell us;)

"60 Minutes" preparing report on Siegelman case
TUSCALOOSA - Posted November 16, 2007 - http://stevensonblog.tuscaloosanews.com/default.asp?item=700943

I'm getting reports from all over that CBS's "60 Minutes" is gathering information in Alabama about the case of incarcerated former Gov. Don Siegelman.

First I got an email from a friend who forwarded another email saying that a women who works for the program had contacted the Alabama Department of Archives and History "in an effort to locate the negative television ads that Steve Windom ran against Siegelman in 2002."

Next I heard from a local political operative that he had been contacted by a "60 Minutes" producer looking for insights into the players in the trial that sent the former governor to federal prison for seven years. There have been at least four such producers working on the story in Alabama the last few weeks he said.

Finally, I got an email from someone who was close to Siegelman and has been working diligently to get him out of prison by any legal means necessary. This is part of what he wrote:

"They started working on it about two months ago. They have conducted some15 or 16 interviews. They have talked to all the lawyers, some family, and have been unable to get permission from Justice to interview Don. .....

10. Might be time for Larisa to make a phone call to Dan Abrams at MSNBC...
Abrams has been up in the grill of the other MSM players lately.

This is the kind of story that Larisa does so well. I'd love to see her work with Abrams and KO to perform a public service.

It is time the 'gloves came off' and the truth came out.

30. This is what happens when arch-criminals rule a nation.
And, as per the laws of large-group psychology, the Bushies know it's OK if a small number of people know the truth (they will deal with us later) as long as the story can be kept out ofthe eyes and minds of enough people to reach a critical mass.

In a nation of 300,000,000, that critical mass is likely no less than 20,000,000 adults. The only organization that can instantly reach enough minds today are the Bush Lie Machine andthe MSM toadies, who's editors and bosses, even when they aren't Loyal Bushies, can be EASILY frightened off.

49. The Bigger Picture...
After reading all three installments, what I come away with is the cloak and dagger aspect of Karl Rove. His specific acts of bending and breaking the laws. There are many persons languishing in jail for not even one-sixteenth of what this man has done, with less evidence and with fewer witnesses and yet this sub-human walks free.

This termite has personally weakened the pillars of this country to such a degree, it won't be just bridges collapsing, soon whole states will be imploding under the weight of corruption perpetrated by this cretin.

What will be the historical fall out? Read about the Hoover administration and the rule of the trusts, big money and bigger egos which ran the country into the ground. If you had a huge pile of money, as they did, when the big crash came they were able to survive it without any trouble.

It took sacrifice and hard work to rebuild this nation back then, and it is going to take that and more to reinstate the constitution as the law of the land. If not, then there will be worse times then what occurred back in the "Great Depression." Personally, I doubt there was anything "Great" about that time, unless you were part of the wealthy elite.

There is an interesting book written back in 1957 called "Atlas Shrugged." The premise of the story is about letting the whole country go down in flames so that those in power could re-build it in their own ideal image. And those in power were not the elected, they ran everything behind the scenes. It isn't an easy read, however if you enjoy political perspectives being discussed within the framework of fiction, you might enjoy it. The multiple parallels within the story and what is happening today is rather scary. I could pull many quotes from this book that parallel what is currently going on, but I won't bore you with that.

However, there is one quote given by the protagonist of this book that seems relevant for this day and age... "You have heard is said I believe that this system has depravity as its motive, plunder as its goal, lies, fraud and force as its method, and destruction as its only result." Sound familiar?

Karl Rove will be known as the one person that single-handedly assisted in destroying a nation. It's up to all of us to make sure that his story doesn't get buried. No One is above the law. For that to work, Justice must be reinstated and the serial criminals must be sent to the real prisons, not those country club places they've created just in case they get caught. As the person who supported and assisted with all the deaths caused by this illegal administration, death row is too nice a place for Rove.

63. Yes, I see that you are too busy investigating a different story...
...but, not too busy to gossip about the 60 minutes story.

62. All I Can Say Larisa is Thank-you!
... Your work is beyond appreciated, you are a true American!

I am just a little person, nobody would miss me or even notice me because I am poor and old, which makes people like me wonderful "pigeons" pecking around beneath the well shod feet of the haughty and elite. If there is anything you want done "under the radar" it is with someone like me. I learnt this when I was a girl from the elderly daughter of a slave. She told me this: "They never notice us while we sow the seeds of Truth because they think we are no threat... We sang about it, we told our stories to our children, we reported to people who were on our side about it, we often walked right past them with it in our hands and they never saw it"

Haughtiness and vanity almost always blinds the rich and the powerful, never forget this. And we little guys aren't a threat as a single person (unless we are lookouts near the enemy) ~ and they are terrified of all of rising up just like every poor person was insignificant that stood together and created a landslide by voting for Ugo Chavez. Because they think only they can hurt us, we cannot affect them. Well, life is just too short not to make a brave stand for the Constitution. As others did before us from the people who stole in the night to dump tea in Boston Harbor to the slaves who escaped through the Underground Railway.

In other words, a camera and mike could see some important things under a kitchen apron or pile of garbage in a prison where all rights are suspended.

My 2 cents

64. This just appeared
as the top story at Buzzflash:

http://markcrispinmiller.blogspot.com/2007/12/siegelman-speaks-ex-gov-calls-02.html

"Here is some amazing video: a very candid interview with Don Siegelman, who spoke to Julie Sigwart of Take Back the Media on Sept. 13, 2004--months before the Governor was finally put away on trumped-up charges by the Alabama GOP.

"As he himself makes clear, Siegelman's ordeal began back in 2000, when he came out early on, and publicly, against the presidential bid of his fellow governor, George W. Bush, and backed Al Gore instead. It was a move that Karl Rove never did forget, and never would forgive, says Siegelman.

"Rove's long drive to destroy the Alabama governor resulted in the theft of the 2002 election for Republican Bob Riley. Here Siegelman describes that theft--which took place primarily in Baldwin County--and also talks about his handling of that matter.

"So far, the mainstream press coverage of Don Siegelman's ordeal has pointedly ignored the theft of the 2002 election. Clearly, Siegelman himself does not regard that theft as a side issue, but as a major crime, and one that is quite relevant to his whole story.

"Today, the Alabama governor is not allowed to speak up on his own behalf. He's locked away inside a federal prison cell, and, for good measure, has been silenced by the Alabama courts. As Scott Horton has so aptly put it, Don Siegelman is the Man in the Iron Mask.

"So let's do everything we can to get this interview played far and wide, so that his fellow citizens can finally hear him, and see him, talk about the criminal campaign against him.
