The World Lost A Treasure This Evening
Patricia was an amazing woman.

Born with Polio, she lived a life of handicap and pain. She married an Air Force Colonel who survived WWII and retired. He cared for her for 6 decades and gave her an amazing life.

Her many accomplishments include:

An English teacher.
A concert pianist.
An author.
An accomplished gourmet cook.
One of the leaders of Common Cause.
One of the leaders of The League of Women Voters.
A Life Long Democrat.
A Champion of Women's Rights.
A Champion of Minority Rights.
A fighter.

At the age of 80 she had had enough hip and back and leg pain due to her Polio handicap. She marched into her doctor's office and demanded they cut off her leg. They did and she was fitted with a prosthetic leg. She had her fucking LEG cut off to make her life better. At the age of 80. She was never happier after the recovery period.

Her fucking LEG.

This woman FOUGHT for Women, Minorities, RIGHTS, JUSTICE her entire life. This was the most intelligent person I have EVER had the chance to know. This woman was an inspiration to all who had the good fortune to meet her. BRILLIANT doesn't even begin to describe her. A life long fighter for justice for ALL people.

Aunt Pat died at 6:00pm tonight.

I love you Aunt Pat. I love you so much.

I am so sorry. At least you got to celebrate your 65th wedding anniversary with Uncle Bud last week.

R.I.P.

I love you.

5. Condolences to you and your family
And it was grand she got to celebrate that anniversary. Sometimes, they can hold on for some big event before they leave. It may be testament to the power of the will. Since she was a champion for so much, she must've had one helluva will. And that much caring can't be gone, just because the vessel wears out and breaks.

Strength to you and yours. Peace and absence of pain to your Aunt Pat.

While never famous or celebrated, it is the 'Aunt Pats' of the world who, quietly, enrich us and our world, every day, with their very presence. For our family, it was Busia - a strong woman who's common sense, sense of fairness, and compassion and love of others, made us and those around us, better people for having known her.

We're much better for having had Aunt Pat in our world
She sounds like she was a fantastic woman who made a very big difference in the world, and for that we owe her a debt of gratitude. She sounds like a shining example for all of us to follow.

So sorry for your loss, matcom, but glad you were able to enjoy her as much as you did.
