Tammy Grimes: HERO to all dog owners.
A while back I ran into these people, so I joined and donated. This woman has gone to JAIL and has been convicted of THEFT and RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY for taking this poor, dying animal off of his chain and giving him some quality of life for what time this poor dog has left. With all of the Michael Vick brouhaha, perhaps there is something we can all do to help the dog next door, or the cats held by a hoarder.

2. I really admire her.
I joined, bought one of the t-shirts. The shirt has proved to be great at raising awareness of her work.

4. I just sent money, but I'm sending more to get a bumper sticker.
I hear the horror stories about mid-Pennsylvania; sad to know some of them are true.

She is MY hero anyway.

3. That area is a real stronghold of Freeper-mentality.
No matter the actual charges, she was actually convicted
of being some sort of liberal outsider.

6. Yep. Picked up on that the first time I went to the site.
I feel like a real dolt for not bringing her up in the past.

She is such a POSITIVE force in the anti-cruelty movement without being far off the wall. Solitary Chaining is cruelty for a pack animal.

5. I went through a similar situation this year
watching a dear little cat wasting away due to neglect and abandonment. He was so thin when he was rescued! It all turned out well though. The kitty is happy and healthy and living with my mother. He found his way out of a damaged window.

The neighbor is back living next door like nothing ever happened.

7. Why these people aren't in JAIL is beyond me.
We've heard a mournful howl in the neighborhood, so we're going to look around. The same ordinance that was used against US (two too many animals) has a clause about outside chaining.

23. The dog wasn't out last night.
It was in the "teens" up here, so maybe the owner took pity on it.

We walked around for quite a while: no howls.

14. My Maddie (thus my name) was spirited away from bad
owners....they left her tied to a tree in the winter and let other dogs attack her while she was still a puppy. We have a few leash issues but she is a grand 2 year old lady....

She is an amazing companion and loves her frisbee. Kudos to my fellow heroines and hero's of the night...

18. Wish I hadn't read this post before going to bed.
Now I'm furious. An animal control officer that doesn't do their job. A judge that doesn't allow relevant evidence. It's too damn easy to get a pet. Way too easy.

May these people who do this to animals get it sent back ten fold.

29. Her other claim to fame
was starring in (at the time) television's shortest-lived sitcom, lasting just four episodes. It's fair to say that this show was "a dog."

"Pennsyltucky"?

Great. Nice to broadbrush and insult folks as a way to ask for donations.

PennsylVANIA can claim its own heartless and nasty people without insulting people of the Appalachians. Or was it just a jab at what she considers to be poor and rural people? How very cute.

22. You're right. That's not very sensitive.
In an area where the police chief tells a woman rescuing a dying, abused animal, "If you touch MY dog Ill shoot you in the ass," I would imagine it's hard to keep one's temper. But the epithet is insensitive.

24. Cherokee County where I live in Georgia just passed an ordinance
banning all chaining or tethering of dogs outside any longer than 2 hours. That made me very happy because my next-door neighbor chains her poor little dog outside 24/7 no matter what the weather. One day, in a very bad thunderstorm, that little dog was crying and crying because he was so frightened. I finally had enough and banged on her door and requested that she take him inside. She did, but reluctantly.

27. K&R - Thank you for posting this.
She truly is a hero, her story is almost unbelievable, and I am so glad that poor dog spent his last 5 months being loved and cared for. I am going to make a donation, and I see that a LOT of people have viewed the Youtube videos, so she is getting some good publicity, and hopefully a lot more donations.
