Don't Expect Anything Out Of The Congress, You Will Never Be Satisfied

Look, I'm an old fart, so let me give you some old fart wisdom. Forget about all that nonsense you ever read about checks and balances and that nonsense about separation of powers. Here is how it really works.

This Government of ours can and will do anything it wants. Our vision of rights and historical documents to the contrary the fact is that the only way anything can happen - and anything CAN happen - is when two branches of our Government act in concert. The Congress and the Court can defeat anything the Executive thinks it can do, the Executive and the Court can tie the Congress up in knots. Any combination can work and of course in a perfect world we all think the three should work together but that's not the point. It takes two of the but when two work together they can take our liberties away from us as fast as a lightening strike if they want. So we need more than just the Congress. We need either the Court or the White House, but we aren't going to get anywhere worth mentioning with what we have now.
