Has Bill Clinton lost touch with the Democratic Party?
Is it wise to say that Hillary will use Bush, Sr for diplomatic purposes after all the damage his moron son has done to our nation? So we will send the father to apologize for the sins of the son? I'm sure he will be well-received.

Is Bill Clinton aware of the change that people are demanding? Does he truly believe that the status quo is what people want? They want us to work together with the Republicans. Is that possible under the circumstances or should this simply be a death match between the Parties? The Republicans have sown these seeds and they should reap the results.

Is the Democratic Party in touch with Bill Clinton and Hillary? Is Bill helping or hurting Hillary in her campaign? Surely the Clinton supporters must be questioning the tactics and the comments by Bill?

1. I don't know what the people actually want
And I don't know what people we are actually talking about.

Within the party I think there is a strong desire to see the Republicans pay for what they did to us over the last few years. But does that same feeling extend generally? or are people more desirous to see an end to partisanship? I don't know.

On the other hand, any Clinton supporter who doesn't expect these kinds of moves is deluding themselves. Like or dislike Clinton, he's always been a centrist.

6. How do you work with someone who...
is only willing to compromise if you give them what they want but will block you on every step of what you want?

5. You know
when Bush asked Bill Clinton to travel with his father for Tsunami and Katrina relief, the conservatives went batshit crazy. They think of the Clintons the same way people here think of the Bushes.

Nonetheless, they raised well over 100 million dollars for disaster relief. Asking Clinton to participate in that was one of the very few smart things Bush has done in his presidency.

Former Presidents are a resource, and most Americans aren't offended by displays of bipartisanship. Only ultra-partisans are.

7. I don't think his timing was very good
However, I think using Bill Clinton as sort of an ambassador of good will around the world would be a wise move for anybody who wins the White House in 2008.

George HW Bush? Eh...

8. How about an end to compliance with criminals?
How is it bi-partisan to let certain people get away with torture and murder? To let criminals retain enough power to accomplish what Poppy and Junior have accomplished in the last twenty years?

This surpasses a kakistocracy. It's more like an inbred dynasty.

So those people who really don't care too much about pesky details or history or anything may very well see this as a great gesture of goodwill and healing, even though it's mostly just meaningless PR crap.

10. Former Presidents have been called on before by current Presidents.
Except in the case of the current, "It's the Monkey way, or the highway" embarrassment.

The level of outrage on this is a little over the top.

When the nominee is established, he'll be back on board.

17. Believe it or not --
--Much of the country still looks favorably on Bush sr. (I don't, for the record)

Combining that with the fact that Bill purposely left Jr out of the mix, it's a reach out to Republican voters while dissing Junior.

It pisses off the left sure -- but the potential gains for votes in the general from Republicans might be worth it. In any event, nobody is saying give GHWB the keys to the car, Bill is just proposing really that they do more of the same they've been doing for a couple of years now.

I can't stand GHWB personally, but unlike his son, he does still has some standing on the world stage (God knows why)
