FBI withdrew from interrogation due to CIA’s ‘harsh tactics.’

FBI withdrew from interrogation due to CIA’s ‘harsh tactics.’

In 2002, as the CIA used “harsh tactics” to interrogate al Qaeda operative Abu Zubaida, FBI agents involved in his detention increasingly “protested the aggressive methods that were used.” Reportedly, “one agent was so offended he threatened to arrest the CIA interrogators.” The Washington Post reports today that the tensions between the two agencies became so bad that FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III “eventually ordered the FBI team to withdraw from the interrogation” because of the tactics being used:

Tensions came to a head after FBI agents witnessed the use of some harsh tactics on Abu Zubaida, including keeping him naked in his cell, subjecting him to extreme cold and bombarding him with loud rock music...

FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III eventually ordered the FBI team to withdraw from the interrogation, largely because bureau procedures prohibit agents from being involved in such techniques, according to several officials familiar with the episode.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/17/AR2007121702151_3.html?hpid=topnews

1. Wow. Talk about a smoking gun. I hope this story opens some eyes
for defenders of these "harsh" tactics ... I got chills reading how one FBI guy was going to "arrest" the CIA
goons for breaking the law.

2. If this were 1946, the CIA interrogators would have been hanged for war crimes.
Unfortunately, I doubt anybody within the CIA, certainly not the big guys in the White House, will ever see the inside of a prison, much less face the fear of a possible death penalty.

7. Right, cause the OSS was so much more of a moral organization back then.
Seriously, the same guys who did Operation Paperclip?

9. and once the investigating starts the fun begins
I normally don't get any pleasure out of someone else's hardships but I will make an exception this time for this crew of war criminal treasonous traitors. Yes I am actually looking forward to the hearings. they'll be so fucking many heads exploding around us that just to live we should be getting combat pay. The real fun is about to begin
