1. I like Allison a lot

As much as I like Keith, he deserves a little vacation. :)

And, Allison adds a tiny bit of color, as well as beauty, to the Anchors on Cable Televison.

9. Actually, I thought Brian Unger did the best job when he subbed.
Pulled off the humor almost as well as Keith. Allison's a good second, though. No insult to Monica Novotny, but when she was subbing there was really no point in watching the show.

23. He turns up on NPR with a humorous essay now and then.
It makes me wish he still subbed for KO.

BTW, I notice that Alison seems to be pretty obviously reading her questions to the interviewees. Does Keith do this too and make it look like he's not?

4. I think several anchors took the week off. I think Dobbs is off too.
I though I heard a lot of people saying they'll have to work between Christmas and NY because of the timing of the Iowa caucuses, so we'll see what the next weeks bring.

5. Alison. Mmmmm! Smart, babe-a-luscious, and a solid interviewer.
And her NPR show, The Bryant Park Project, is well worth a tune-in.

6. No one has gone on record as saying he was off all week
but it may just be that MSNBC is afraid to tell us devoted fans the truth...

Now if the anchors are going to be expected to work more after Christmas because of the Iowa caucuses, that could explain a lot. At least it would make me feel better about Keith disappearing without so much as a "Happy Holidays" to the audience for Billo to gripe about because it wasn't a "Merry Christmas."

2008 is going to be a busy year.

16. it would be nice
to see David Shuster host a few shows. He might not have Keith's smooth delivery but he has the intellect.

18. No idea. Miss Keith, but I am an Allison fan
In fact, the more I see her, the more I like her - and I started out liking her pretty well. It's so refreshing to see an attractive woman who's a 'news brain' rather than a 'news babe.'

19. Keith's A Very Busy Man These Days
Besides Countdown, he's got a book coming out. He also has the Sunday Night Football that does a lot of production work during the week. Last summer we took at tour of NBC at 30 Rock and get to see the NFL set...just a floor below the Countdown studio (it overlooks the Plaza outside)...and I can imagine Keith running up and down those stairs to go from one set to the other.

Remember, with that Sunday gig, Keith is working 6 days a week and I have noted through most of the season he's taken either Friday or Monday off. He's got a pretty nice deal with GE/NBC...so I hope he's just using the days to relax a bit. Also, IRC, he will be doing several specials to fill the hour on Christmas and New Years eve...Oddball specials. He may be working on those as well.

Cheers...

22. Whilst checking out the lovely and talented Allison Stewart...
I happened upon this from

http://blatherwatch.blogs.com/talk_radio/2007/07/npr-a-conversat.html

Stewart, 41, won a coveted Peabody Award for her pioneering MTV coverage of the 1992 Presidential election. (as opposed to Billo Reilly who tells women he has a Peabody when he wants to distract them from his turkey neck)

and needed to share.
