Newsweek cover article on John Edwards called "The Sleeper"

And early missteps—the $400 haircut, the 25,000-square-foot mansion, the job at a hedge fund—raised questions about his authenticity and fed an impression among some voters that his common-man populism was more conceit than conviction.

...fed an impression among "some voters" or just some right-wing hit squad posing as journalists?

.......So am I to believe that FDR, one of the most, if not THE most Progressive POTUS, was not "authentic" because he lived at Hyde Park? Was that a "misstep"?

So according to these people he should live as a homeless person to be authentic or pass up his paycheck for one that a minimum wage worker would receive?

1. Edwards is going to be the story of the year. He is very JFK like.
Not in every way. His family was not rich. He is a self made man. Nobody is perfect and his imperfections pale in comparison to others running for office. I would support Kucinich but I don't think the momentum is there and we need someone that will be honest with the everyone and support the people instead of the elite. :dem:

4. Yes but you have to be carefull !!
Edwards is running a "for the people", a populace campaign as Kennedy did, but every time someone compares someone to JFK a person says something like...."Edwards is no JFK".

But I can tell you this. He seems really close to it and "one step better". JFK was not poor...John Edwards did come from humble beginnings.

THAT'S WHY IT DAMN WILL SURE BE THE STORY OF THE YEAR!!!....

..........I AM SO EXCITED BECAUSE IF..

.....this guy ran a low cost campaign, wouldn't you want him to run our country....the MOST BANG FOR THE BUCK!!!???

...........and the answer is an almighty YES !!!

Lets hurry up and get this man in the white house before this country goes in debt ...

Go JOHN EDWARDS 08 !!!

6. I pick the DU name Lint Head because it is a derogatory term
bigots called people that work in or have family that worked in a cotton/textile mill. My father worked in a textile mill in the town I was born in just 15 miles from where John Edwards was born. I worked in that cotton mill as a teenager. I can identify with John Edwards. :dem:

2. Edwards's rags to riches story
shows what was once possible in America, before the neocons took over.

Edwards's dad had to borrow 50 bucks from a friend to take John home from the hospital after he was born. Now, that's poor.

Good for John Edwards! He personifies the American dream and wants to help others achieve it.

3. Most of the people who write that crap think we are stupid.
They think we are soooooo stupid that they must tell us what we think.

They're so stupid they hear echoes of their own words and think they mean something about us.
