Driving down the highway in Florida yesterday..Yes, I know a scary thought, but
Edited on Sat Dec-22-07 10:18 AM by glowing
I still had the nerve to do so.... I saw a Hillary sticker on the back of the car. It surprised me how violently ill it made me... Like looking at those stupid W'04 stickers. And I noticed in the car was 1 woman, a couple of kids, and a dog. The car was an older style mini-job Toyota. I'm making an assumption here (yes, I know what assumptions do in the ass dept.) that she's probably single, since many families travelling on holidays include the mom and dad and 2.6 kids yada, yada, yada... And I thought, even if she did have a counterpart, it wasn't beneficial for her to support Clinton who is much more business as usual. And if she is single, a single parenthood lifestyle is not easy, and unfortunately, harder for women with wage disparity.

What struck me odd is the overwhelming bile I instantly felt for that sticker. I like to keep an open mind and listen. I don't think I'd ever be able to open it back up to Clinton. AND I was one of those people who wished she'd run right after Bill so they'd be back in the White House for another 8 yrs. I don't know when this viewpoint changed. Perhaps a cumulation of bad to worse over the last 7yrs and being out in the real world myself with a family... I realize the true importance of community and family and taking care of everybody. I wish like madness she would envelope the themes of Kucinich and Edwards and be a real leader. Someone I could be proud to vote for as a woman. I cannot afford to continue the status quo. I don't want to keep going to protests against a war that should never have happened. I don't want someone who is going to negotiate when Bush gave them the entire Govt. I want it back. I'm mad as hell. And people who stand in the way or make excuses just piss me off. I try to live peacefully and teach that.. but sometimes standing up and being counted is part of that. So, a sticker "Hillary" for president pissed me off... NOT so much towards Hillary herself, but towards the message and the vision of a ruined America it stands for. So, I'm mad.. and seriously, have no longer the patience or time or much more money to take any of it anymore. I will vote for the most populist message that can win. We are important.. and not just in America.. all over the world.. people are dying in wars, sweatshops, and in the slave-trade/ sex trade industry (can you believe people are commodities still) because we go shopping and do not demand for our politicians to create trade deals that will make a difference in their lives and in our own. We are at a turning point. We have environmental issues that cannot be swept under the rug. We have a world of people that are hurting.

We can have what we want, if we demand it... Just Imagine.

1. in my neck of the woods in florida, i too have seen hillary bumper stickers on the back of cars ...
my soul comes alive with joy when i see one of those and i am dying to get one so i can put it in the back of our car!

florida is bush country i know. i also know that the bushes (most particularly ghwb has promised to give hillary hell if she runs for president) i stand against anything and everything that the bushes stand for, so i proudly stand for hillary. not just because the bushes stand against her, but because i believe in the woman and the work she does.

peace.

that does not compute.

15. I guess the Clinton/ Poppy Bush team for Katrina and the Tsunami were
all for show... the smiling faces and warm pat hugs were a ploy for the camera. They are both families in Washington.. Insiders.. they all protect their own.. thats why its time to get rid of so many long termers.. shake it up a bit.. They've been sitting on the hill too long and are fat catting off of our backs.

5. I'm glad she still does that for you. I wish like hell she could do that
for me. I guess I'm becoming jaded... being on the frontline and in too many homeless shelter kitchens to care for anything corporate at all. It tends to make someone go to the opposite ends of the spectra.

10. there were many less, less homeless around during the time of corporate Bill, i think...and
food pantries and soup kitches were more plentiful and had a seemingly unending stock of food to feed people with.

14. Perhaps... But they are pulling out all stops to hold off anouncing
Recession until he reigns are handed over to a Dem... so, they can blame them for the economics of Bush.... There is no question that Clinton days were so much lighter and jovial...then again it wasn't this bad... we need serious reform.. not just an easement of our pain.

Then swallow that bile.

And before you sneer at me the way you did that woman in the Toyota, I am an Edwards supporter.

11. I didn't sneer at her... I sneered at the sticker... and if I became a single
mother... I don't even know how or what bootstraps I could pull up to make it all happen. My sister in law is going through it now. I sent her money she desperately needed for Christmas... She was in the process of moving to a rented home from her $400,000.00 home and wondering how to she was going to find enough money to buy sneakers for her kids.. AND she is an Edwards supporter as well. AND she works for Blue Cross... So, she has def. job security issues if we get Universal Healthcare all at once.. I told her, with 10+ yrs of experience in processing, get her butt into a Govt job asap when and if it ever happens. I have all the admiration in the world for single parents... there is never a break... Seriously, I'd have to sell the house and move back in with my parents or something and uproot everything... I certainly am not sneering at the woman. I wish her all the best.

13. That's why I said I was surprised.. I see Hillary for Pres here and
read what is posted. I listen to the debates. I've visited her website. I was surprised at the reaction. Perhaps, like I said further down, it may be the business as usual mentality that isn't going to work if we want to fix things. I wish, like we said about Al, she'd shake the handlers and speak from the heart. Forget the push polls and the opinion groups... Lead or get out of the way... And as a woman... Please, go further..be stronger... be more inspiring than anything in the world. Its a lot to live up to.. I know...but be better than your worst day. Be more than you thought you could ever be. And break down the doors... don't help to keep them a concrete wall.

SUV driven by a Stepford wife type yesterday. Now that was stomach turning.

Hillary's not my candidate, but if she wins the nom, I'll vote for her. She's still better than anything the repukes are putting out there.

By the way I'm in So. Cal and I haven't seen a single Hillary sticker. The only Dem ones I've seen are Obama.

18. Luckily, her vote won't count in the Primary.
Hillary is leading big in the polls in Florida, but a win there would be symbolic at best.

Same with Michigan, where she is the only one on the ballot.

Yes... Do I want just anyone no... What I found startling was in the real world, seeing my first sticker on the van made me say blah, and I got that weasy feeling I get in my stomach when things just don't sit right. It surprised me. I prefer not to post anything for or against her. Spend time reading and learning and forming my own opinion, rather than listen to crap. oh, well..

23. Please...I live in very Republican Orange County, Ca..I'd love to see that sticker.
So far, I've seen ONE Edwards sticker (on a car with Arizona plates) and a few Kucinich ones parked near Whole Foods, but if I see any stickers, they are either Romney or old W '04 ones.

Also, as far as the woman traveling to a vacation alone with kids and the dog, my mom used to do that. She was a SAHM, so we'd go to the beach for a month in the summer. My dad would meet up with us on weekends. It was always my brother and I with the dog in her car. Just sayin'.

for president, is funny as hell. And it's equally funny that it makes you so violently ill to imagine a democratic woman for president.

It's going to be a very LONG eight years for her. (Pity.) :)

Seriously? Bile?

What about being happy that there is at least one more parent (maybe two) who are not going to vote GOP in November. She expressing a preference, it's not an order. It's primary season. Live and let Democrats live.

As someone said upstream, here in my part of the country, I'm happy to see ANY car with a Democrat in it. :patriot:
