Obama slams Ted Kennedy, calls him "old" and to "get some spine"
Ted Kennedy Has Been one of Progressive's Biggest Fighters in the United States Senate for Decades.

Why, Then, does Barack Obama feel the need to join the Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum crowd in bashing him?

America cannot trust Barack Obama.

This "progressive" feels that:

1) "Nobody Does it Better than Joe Lieberman"
2) "Good, Moral, Decent" people oppose homosexuality (Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Donnie McClurkin)
3) And now...We Find out he joins the conservative crowd in bashing a hero for the progressive community, Ted Kennedy.

Obama is a member of Elijah Mohammad's Nation of Islam. He first joined the NOI in the early 1950s, before he was even born. How can we posssibly trust him?

36. Did you know
that Obama's middle name is "Neville Chamberlain"? Yes, Senator Obama was an appeaser who signed the Munich Agreement in 1812. He was also a strong supporter of "State's Rights" both before and previous to the Civil War. His father got him into the National Guard in Texas during the Granada War, so that he would not have to serve -- of course, he shows up late on that swift boat with the Emission Accomplished sign. Thank goodness we have swift boat veternarians here, delivering the word.

46. The Obama "blanket" strategy:
He would not have won Florida in 1960, if Governor Hussein of Chicago had not "counted" the votes of those people who were killed with the small pox blankets. No wonder he was against our liberation of Iraq. The American public can smell an "agenda" here.

23. Seems to me Obama was a little spineless himself this summer,
as he and Hillary waited to be among the last ones to vote on an important issue, playing it safe. Instead of leading the charge, he was more concerned about getting egg on his face, which backfired on him, of course. Things like that usually do.

14.  LOL, Got to recognize this to Hillary's supporters. Nothing will stop them.
This was part of a speech 4 years ago, on a very specific subject. In addition, the sentence on Lieberman is also dated, and he never called Robertson and Falwell good, decent people.

But honesty has never been a Clinton quality, and some of their supporters like to emulate them.

Debating the issues is fine. But bring up a quote from 4 years ago doesn't make their own candidate look any better.

Theres plenty to criticize about Obama. Why won't (some) Clinton supporters debate the real issues instead of bring up this crap?

This isn't about working together. It is about exposing hard truth & dragging the ignorant &

30. Hard truth? What's so hard about the truth?
The whole point of Obama's conciliatory rhetoric is to move the ignorant and hateful to a place of sanity. Calling someone a freeper dildo is probably not going to go very far towards changing their mind. Better results will be had by trying to form some kind of bond by establishing where there's common ground and then gently steering folks towards that place of sanity.

Preaching to the choir doesn't yield a lot of converts. Obviously there are times you gotta draw a line and not compromise, but the "I'm 100% right about everything and anyone who disagrees can fuck off" attitude one sees here isn't very productive.

Moreover, the article in the OP was about Obama calling out Kennedy for being a bit overzealous in "working together" with the GOP for the Medicare drug bill. Kennedy gave up too many concessions on the bill, Obama called him on it, and somehow Obama becomes the bad guy in this thread. Go figure.

19. What's Even Sillier, from the Article
While on the campaign trail, Sen. Barack Obama's constant refrain has been that on legislative matters of great import, he is the one major candidate who could bring all parties to the table. Health care? Hillary has too much baggage. Energy policy? Edwards would alienate the business community.

Hello? Whomever is president is going to be able to bring these assholes to the table. Period.

While you pandered & decried progressive efforts to have an ULTRA neoconservative extremist take the bench....

We had to beg you for days & days & days to support Kerry's filibuster of this atrocious supreme court nominee....In that time, you damaged our fight, you painted us as some sort of extremists. You aren't a leader.

You are such a obvious pandering politician, it boggles the mind that I find fellow progressives planning on voting for you. The act is as superficial as it comes.

Kennedy is one of the BEST politicians in Washington. He has been CONSISTENTLY fighting for US.

... it's too bad they've front-loaded these primaries. The economic boom is going to start hitting in the Summer and Fall, and then people are going to understand what Edwards is saying much more clearly. By then it will probably be too late, and we'll be stuck with one of the corporate candidates.

Probably, the same OP ... sounds awfully familiar.

If this is all they've got on Obama ... well, I'd suggest you get something better.

I love Ted Kennedy, and he was my senator when I lived in MA for five years. But I felt the same way about him (grow some spine, Ted) during the early days of the Bush administration: I was FURIOUS with him for getting together with Bush and pushing for the disastrous No Child Left Behind act. Really furious. I knew it was going to be awful. I was right, Ted was wrong. So what. I still love Ted Kennedy, but he ain't always perfect. Nor is Obama, nor any other politician or candidate.

This is a great big fat nothingburger.

Are we to allow the Obama supporters to set timelines on what they said, but allow them to go back 5-10-15-20 years to slam other candidates? How many Obama supporters have dredged up the old chestnut of Bidens' plagiarism(proved false by the way)?

No, Obama, and his supporters will get no more, and no less rope than any other.

in your personal attacks. You can rip Obama and spread rumors about him but you can't concede that Hillary Clinton helped George W. Bush get us where we are today in Iraq. The quote was about Democrats in 2003 when he was a state senator growing a spine on energy policy. It's too bad he didn't use the quote about those democrats in 2002 (who didn't include Ted Kennedy) who helped authorize this war--like Hillary Clinton.
