Best Progressive Banking Institutions for a New 527 Org?
Edited on Fri Dec-28-07 04:56 PM by CorpGovActivist
I plan to set up a 527 organization shortly.

Do any DUers have recommendations on progressive-leaning banking institutions, especially those that offer turn-key reporting and accounting services as a feature?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

2. I Belong to One; You're Right, They're Great ...

8. That's Their Trade Association...
... but saying that all credit unions supported this is like saying that all lawyers support everything the American Bar Association says.

15. This is actually an excellent question and I don't believe any of the
candidates have addressed it. I doubt it's on the table. But it should be, given the gloom and doom economic scenario we face over the next year. If I'm correct, all of the candidates who were in the Senate at the time, voted for it. Correct me if I'm wrong on that. I'd like to see them ALL questioned about it.

16. Bankruptcy Reform...
... discussed on http://www.johnedwards.com/search/?mode=perform_search&keywords=bankruptcy&x=17&y=6">Edwards' site, which includes an easy-to-use search feature (unlike the spoonfeeding, closed government "front runner").

Who has the time to wade thru Clinton's rigid website to see if the word is even mentioned?

3. Wow. You need to set up your own?
What is your purpose that no others provide?

Are there no existing progressive 527s that suit your goals?

Sometimes it seems to me that the creation of many new orgs leeches strength and power from existing orgs by sucking away money, energy and attention, diluting cohesive support for established strong organizations.

But I guess there is no existing org that you can support and so need a new one?

4. If someone does compile a list of progressive financial insts, Plz send a message to my inbox
This is a very interesting topic. I know of Working Assets in SF, which is a large combination of different financial functions, including money market.

I've heard about others

7. A Disproportionate Number of Non-Profs are HQ'ed inside the Beltway...
And a few orgs cater to helping them with their needs, including directing them to financial institutions that have specialized staff and services to meet non-prof needs:

I'm still eager to hear of any with progressive tie-ins.

20. Progressive Tie-ins?
Any progressive banking/financial institutions with progressive tie-ins (e.g., donating money to progressive causes based on accounts opened, awarding airline miles to such an organization, etc.)?
