On NBC’s Meet The Press this morning, host Tim Russert asked former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee if he believed “people are born gay or choose to be gay?” “I don’t know whether people are born that way,” responded Huckabee, “but one thing I know, that the behavior one practices is a choice.”

Huckabee conceded that “people who are gay say that they’re born that way,” but added that he believed that “how we behave and how we carry out that behavior” is more important. Watch it:

I absolutely choose to "act gay," whatever the hell that means. I absolutely choose to live openly as a lesbian. I'm out at work, at home, everywhere. That's my choice.

I have to agree with Huckabee on that one point. We are constantly making choices and everything we do is a result of hundreds, even thousands, of decisions we make all day long, whether consciuosly or unconsciously.

Every action undertaken by every person, of any sexual orientation, anywhere in the world, is a result of a decision made by that person, whether they realize it or not. I agree with that general principle, but that's all I agree with Huckabee on. I'm not extending it to make any judgement of anyone's behavior, whatsoever. I'm just agreeing with the fact that all of our actions are results of choices we make. Period.

Yes, I was born this way. I knew I was different in the 6th grade and this is not a learned behavior, I tried having girl friends and it just did not work nor did it feel right.
