Poll question: Are your teenagers and college age kids registered to vote?
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 02:02 PM by Breeze54
My son registered the day of the last election, on his birthday! He was so happy & proud! :D

On edit: I just remembered that he got his driving license that day as well;
so he was quite pleased to be able to show his ID too! :P

Even teens in their senior year of high school should register to vote, if they'll be 18 on voting day!!

1. I registered to vote the day I turned 18
And Dropkid is anxiously awaiting her chance to vote (I've ALWAYS made a point to bring her with me to vote, she's participated in every election since dec 2000).

She's a Republican who likes Bush married to a career military who loves the Air Force. She is also a twit who doesn't have any interests that doesn't involve a mirror.

My son likes to freak me out when I ask who he's leaning towards in the primary by saying he likes McCain! :grr:

He loves trying to get a rise out of me! :P

13. 1 out of 2 of the grown men I brought in to the world are registered to vote.
One is an anarchist and refuses to vote, believing that the U.S. empire is broken beyond repair and that the kindest thing is to allow it to implode and be replaced by something else.

We have very spirited political debates, and this time around he may register and vote; the only candidate he is willing to vote for, though, is Gravel, so good luck with that.

The other is registered and votes every election day. don't know if he is a Democrat, although he usually votes for the dem in the GE. We don't talk party politics, we have conversations about issues, measures, and candidates.

My mother, who was a liberal independent for all of her adult life until the Reagan administration, registered as a Democrat during his first term and has been one ever since. She still leans independent, but holds her place as a Democrat as a statement of protest against the republican party.

14. One out of two isn't bad!
;)

I have 3 sons and I'm pretty sure they all vote though I do wonder about my second oldest sometimes.

Maybe he just forgets. I know he forgets my phone number or where he put it! :P

He seems to be a rebel sometimes about that stuff too, like your son.

But I have very lively discussions with #1 and #3 sons about politics and they agree with me! ;)

:hi:

15. I really love having grown sons.
I raised them to be independent thinkers, so I accept that they aren't always going to agree with me. We respect each others' thinking and decision making processes, though, and don't give advice unless asked for it.

To be honest, it's never even occurred to me to ask them who they vote for, although I know the voting son voted for Kerry in '04. He was as eager as anyone else to replace GWB. I trust them to make reasoned choices, and that's what counts.

I'm hoping to get my rebel son to register to vote before the general election in '08. I don't care what party he registers with, (republican would concern me, but that is not exactly likely, lol), just that he participates.

crosses that being fully 'aware' as an adult soon! He's working on it! (19 yrs. old)

I do ask them who they are thinking of voting for, just as it is discussed here at DU.

They're all liberals, so I don't think it's prying. Hell! They ask me the same thing! :D
