Obama is suffering from delusions of grandeur if he thinks he would cakewalk through the GE
It's apparent to me that we cannot afford Barack Obama's arrogance or his delusions of grandeur.

With his most recent comment that "I don't want to go into the next election starting off with half the country already not wanting to vote for Democrats -- we've done that in 2004, 2000," Obama seems to think that he would cakewalk through the general election, should he become the Democratic nominee.

Not only is his comment just downright disingenuous (he seems to conveniently forget that more people went to the polls on Election Day 2000 and voted FOR Al Gore, not against him), but it's dangerous.

He seems to be under the impression that he would breeze through the general election without having to put out any policy proposals or explain where he wants to take the country; that somehow all of America will be in love with him just on the basis of some vague idea of "hope."

Newsflash, Barack: It's not going to be enough to simply just "hope" your way through the general election, if you make it that far. It's not going to be enough to simply not be George W. Bush. People will want to know where you stand on the issues that matter to them, and that will mean putting out specific policy proposals.

5. I don't believe the country brought that at all. "Compassionate conversatism" is not why
George W. Bush is in the White House today.

6. I don't think ANY Democratic nominee would have the "easiest" time in the GE
I just don't believe there is such a thing.

What I do believe is that the Democratic nominee needs to be prepared to go through the fire of the GE. I believe we need to have a person of endurance, who is not under any illusions about the GE.

7. In that case.
Maybe Obama feels like he would get the most moderate republicans to cross over ?

And maybe that IS the case >> http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article1752381.ece

14. I'm betting on Capt. Kangaroo.
These anti-Barackians are funny, no? He's not my first choice, not by a long shot, but the hillarians who are so afeared of him are pretty consistent.

9. I agree, and NO Republican would vote for him.
I'd hold my nose, real tight, for the party line,an do it, but I don't know any Reps who would cross lines to vote for him.

10. "Compassionate Conservatism" taught us not to trust people
who generalize and never give specifics. GWB hid his real intentions
so well and look where this country is today.

12. I hardly think he thinks it will be a cakewalk. He's already endured
personal attacks implying that he is the, Manchurian Muslim candidate out to infiltrate so he can DESTROY American. He's been accused of attending Madrassas and being Muslim (which shouldn't be considered a negative but it is). And it's been implied that he was a drug dealer. So how does he think a GE will be a cakewalk?

15. Do we have a "Dumbest Post of the Day" designation
False premise. You don't even know that he made that comment, and it certainly doesn't "seem" to suggest a cakewalk. Your post is dumb as dirt from start to finish. Garbage in, garbage out. Or you're a liar. One of the two.

23. Buying into false promises of the DLC
Obama seems to be following the long-discredited DLC strategy of falsely labeling mainstream Dems as "controversial" or "divisive". Its a false premise, period.

Moving to GOP lite while rejecting the Dem base doesn't work as a strategy. There aren't enough independent voters to make up for the loss of mainstream Dems a candidate loses when he uses this tactic. Many candidates who ran on the old DLC platform have lost in recent years (Harold Ford comes to mind) It just doesn't work.

25. Oh my. Your post is a mystery
What we have is you saying that Obama thinks it would be a cakewalk, for the purposes of slandering Obama for "delusions of grandeur". In the quote you provide, Obama neither said nor implied it would be a cakewalk.
